The game had a weird story/concept to it...

Some God decided to gather tons of badasses from various places and time periods who died in all sorts of fucked up ways and make them fight each other for a chance to be brought back to life

Well, actually that is the one for the first game on Genesis... the sega cd version is that but then they introduce a dark version of the god dude and shit gets all fucked up and I can't remember what the fuck
