Actually it wasn't a sob story I was just trying to say that most of what people think is this isn't. There is a specific issue that the OP was talking about call it what you want but you don't have to call it RLS but that doesn't mean that someone is making it up. It isn't the end of the world, I don't want sympathy, it is uncomfortable, but I am never going to take drugs for it or think that it is something that needs recognition or anything like that.

You are just a troll retard who is trolling a thread for no reason other than to try to appear smart by saying something doesn't exist without any evidence or any true sign of knowledge.

When did I say anything didn't exist? It exists insofar as acid reflux existed before it was classified as "GERD" to sell Zantac in the 80s, the point is that classifying this trivial bullshit as a disease is making a ludicrously profitable mountain out of a molehill. It's like if someone invented a medicine that prevents shivering and got the physical response to being cold classified as Acute Suboptimal Dermal Temperature Syndrome.

    P.S. You're a moron.

I began to have this after I got off my anti-depressants. Also had vertigo but that eventually faded away. I still have RLS after a year and a half of being off the drug, some nights I can't sleep until I hop out of bed and do about 200 leg lifts to the point where my leg muscles are just dead tired. It's really annoying as shit.

sometimes when I go to try to sleep I get this incredibly aggravating sensation in my hamstrings / thighs that can only be described as the pain you'd feel if someone took your muscles and stretched them like rubber bands. Sometimes it's horrible, sometimes it's not, sometimes it doesn't happen for years at a time.

All I know is that when it does happen it can get so bad that I find myself wanting to rip my legs off and sometimes end up either beating the shit out of a door frame or just generally flipping out.

My doctor prescribed me something that really doesn't work and makes me feel like shit, and has also recommended I drink tonic water with quinine (vasodialator (sp)?), which tastes almost as bad as the pain in my legs feel. So...yeah, I just kinda take it as it comes. Nights it happens though I get 0 sleep whatsoever, I don't even bother trying anymore.

Edit: Only reason I'm even posting is because about 5 nights in the past 3-4 weeks I've gone 100% sleepless because of this. First time in 2 years I've had to deal with it, but I've been experiencing it off and on since I was maybe 10?

Edit 2: I actually tried the above at times. Running or doing intense stretching / massaging, leg lifts, etc. It seems to help but if I don't pass out relatively quickly afterward the feeling comes back. I don't fall asleep easily to begin with, so yeah, fucked.

Yeah Priran keep putting your foot in your mouth. So basically you aren't all butt hurt and trolling this thread because you don't think its real, you are just mad it has a name?

First drugs aren't always used for diseases retard sometimes they are just there to help with symptoms.

Not all drugs are for diseases.

Second, really? your mad because someone made a name for it?

Should we not have a name for cancer then? Should we just call it that weird lumpy flesh that grows continuously?

Stop trying to act like you know what the fuck you are talking about when you are going to continue to say such stupid shit.

And just because you are being so dense I will remind you I am not saying that this is anything other than trivial, annoying yes, life threatening and worthy of drugs? not really.

Thesis: There is a whole lot of biological (and psychological) diversity out there both between species and between individuals within a species, including the scientifically proven existence of many biological (and psychological) ailments which are far more bizarre than RLS. I do not doubt that this is a real and serious issue for some people.

Antithesis: Most people are fools who are easily affected by placebo effects, self-deception, and many other types of cognitive biases of which they are usually not aware. I do not doubt that a large number of people who believe they suffer from RLS (and other things, I'm looking at you ADHD) just need to snap out of it, meditate, get some exercise, change their diets, be more disciplined, etc.

Synthesis: Everyone's gonna die very soon so fuck you all.

RLS is a real "problem" for some people. I don't know if I'd call it a disease, but it most certainly happens. I think most people are confused about what it is though. The constantly tapping of your foot/shaking of your leg stuff isn't RLS (at least not the same thing I'm talking about).

Methadone withdrawals can give you wicked RLS for one week up to a month or more. It makes sleeping impossible when it's going on because you can't stop flopping around/moving your legs (on top of all the other crap the withdrawals do to you). I'm not sure if you can get it (at least to the severity I'm talking about) without it being a side-effect of something/withdrawal symptom, but the stuff I'm talking about is just awful.

If you want some stories about withdrawal RLS just Google "Methadone Withdrawal RLS", and you can probably find mountains of forum post. As far as I'm aware for those types of RLS the only things that will/might make it go away/ease up are: Magnesium vitamins, Potassium vitamins, Taking opiates again to end withdrawals and hot bath/hot tub I hear does well. You may be able to find some other "home remedies" if you dig into some withdrawal RLS forum post. It's often the biggest road block in getting off whatever you are having withdrawals from (due to lack of sleep) so people are usually really desperate to make it stop. I'll link you a forum post that had a "recipe" for trying to get through opiate withdrawals (which includes dealing with the RLS that will occur):

    http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...wal-35169.html

Good luck with it, and don't take the prescription pills for RLS as it'll likely do more harm than good in the end.

Smoke some weed and you'll be asleep in no time. I got the same kind of thing when I played basketball/football in college. It was almost like a massively delayed charlie horse that would last the entire night in both my legs.

Stretching, light jogging, just leaving it, massages.... nothing worked. Just smoked weed and passed the fuck out lol. Everything would be fine in the morning.

No really, there's absolutely no point arguing with you because all of my arguments fly miles over your head so your only defense is to put words in my mouth based on whatever preschooler misunderstanding of what I'm saying you can manage.

    Completely pointless.

Straightedge, etc. But really, I think I'm gonna just get into a heavy weight training stint for my legs. See what I can do, who knows.

I'm stumped. You're going to have to explain yourself rather than pontificate.
