It's based on that, but I am pretty sure there is also an armor skill that increases the capacity.
I never bothered with that sort of thing though.

I don't know much at all about Tri, dunno which part influences the ammo capacity. Also assuming they haven't changed it in Tri, the damage from Normal Lv2 shots does more than Normal Lv3. Level 3s can ricochet and hit multiple parts on some monsters though, but for the most part they're considered worse overall than Level 2 shots.

I know for sure there is armor skills in Tri that help though. There's one that increases capacity of all ammo by 1 and one that increases reload speed. The latter of which works in tiers too, if you have 10 points reload speed goes up one level, 15 goes up two and 20 goes up three. Reload speed is vastly more important than ammo capacity. I think they took auto-reload skill out of Tri though, which is a shame.
