Inb4 Obsidian ruins Dungeon Seige 3.
Inb4 Obsidian ruins it and Square gets blamed.
Activision just announced that it will be showing Spider-Man: Shattered Memories @ E3. It is set in the 2099 universe. Can't post link becaue I'm @ work, but I'm sure one of y'all can find it.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=...%28Sony+PS3%29If you weren't already snooping around the Internet and stumbling onto these Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension screenshots from last week, then this is new to you. Activision today confirmed that the 2099 universe (if you want to know what this means, hit up Marvel for a first step) will be the third dimension that the player visits in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, in addition to the already revealed Amazing and Noir universes.
If you recall, the basic concept behind Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is that some mystic tablet gets shattered, and as a result, the player hops around four distinct universes, each with its own gameplay style and Spider-Man. The Amazing universe serves as the straightforward Spidey experience, with a fair mix of webslinging, fighting, and even a normal color palette. Contrast that with the Noir universe, whose concept has Spider-Man duking it out in the '30s with a monochromatic palette, and whose gameplay is more stealth-oriented.
For 2099, it's all about crazy neon and flying. Well, not flying exactly -- the technical term is, "controlled vertical freefalling." Basically, while Spider-Man webslings in other universes, for 2099, he spends most of his time falling and missing the ground in the process. The developers also comment that combat feels faster compared to the Amazing universe, and said combat utilizes advance Spidey abilities from the year 2099 such as enhanced senses (a.k.a. a bullet-time mechanic) and talons. Additionally, since each universe in the game features some villains designed in said universe's style, the first villain we see for 2099 is a robotic (and created just for the game) version of Hobgoblin.
Expect the 2099 universe to be the centerpiece of Spider-Man for E3; we're assuming that San Diego Comic-Con will be the place where the fourth and final dimension will be unveiled. Could it be the 1602 universe? Or maybe the Marvel Zombies universe? Or even the Sensational Spider-Ham?

A lengthy, live-action trailer has appeared on YouTube teasing something related to Mortal Kombat. The nearly eight-minute-long teaser was uploaded by an account named "MortalKombatRebirth" yesterday, and stars Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, Lateef Crowder, and Matt Mullins.
The video follows Captain Jackson Briggs (White) as he interviews a mysterious assassin about a series of grisly murders. Classic MK characters like Johnny Cage (Mullins), Baraka (Crowder), Sonya Blade (Ryan), Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Reptile all make appearances.
At first glance it looks like the setup for a new Mortal Kombat movie, but we're leaning more towards this trailer leading up to the next Mortal Kombat videogame. Warner Bros. Interactive seems keen on using live-action sequences to advertise their games as of late (see the recent F.E.A.R. 3 trailers), and the lack of any prior buzz about an MK flick makes a movie sound pretty unlikely. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a trailer for a movie based on a videogame license without hearing about it three years ahead of time?
Series co-creator Ed Boon has repeatedly teased that the developers at Warner Bros. Games Chicago (formerly Midway Games) are hard at work on Mortal Kombat 9. We've even heard whisperings that the next MK could debut at E3 next week. We should find out soon enough whether or not this trailer has any connection with those rumors.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179717Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden designer Tomonobu Itagaki will be revealing his new game at E3 -- his first project since leaving Tecmo.
In a letter posted on Valhalla Game Studios' official site, Itagaki said that the team's motivation was always to "come up with a project from scratch." He also called the new game the "fifth all-new project" in his lifetime, with the first four being Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword.
"I don't know if that number is large or small, but I know as a fact that every one of these announcements was a presentation of a new gaming paradigm from me to all of you," Itagaki wrote.
"This time, it is no different. Details will be coming soon, so please look forward to hearing from me."
We don't have a lot of details on the new project yet, but according to an interview given last year, it won't be a fighting game. His most recent project was Ninja Gaiden 2.
Itagaki has traditionally developed for Microsoft's consoles, so don't be surprised if his new game turns out to be an Xbox 360 exclusive. Keep an eye on our E3 coverage when the show commences next week.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179688Just in case you were wondering whether U.K.-based developer Rare would have anything to show for themselves at E3 besides a snazzy new brand, a countdown clock has appeared on their website that counts down to...well, June 15. The first day of E3. How about that?
Naturally, there's not much to go on at the moment other than the 7-Day countdown clock, but their site does also show an Xbox Live Avatar and the message "One in a million" in the corner. So could there be an impending announcement that's somehow Avatar-related? Then again, there's also a message that reads, "rare.co.uk will be returning soon," so maybe this is just the worst and cruelest way to tease fans about what will only be a website redesign.
Besides the rerelease of Perfect Dark on XBLA earlier this year, Rare hasn't released (or even announced) a new game since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts in 2008, so they're definitely due for a new announcement. Well find out for sure once E3 starts next week (and fingers crossed for a Nuts & Bolts sequel).

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179689In an interview with Japan's Nikkei BP, Capcom CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto naturally discussed Nintendo's upcoming reveal of their 3DS handheld -- but interestingly, it's not the 3D he's looking forward to most, but rather the potential for a whole new business model the handheld could deliver.
"Of course, [the 3D] allows us to do things that couldn't be done until now, so the development staff is showing great interest," Tsujimoto said when asked about the 3DS (via Andriasang). "But what's important is how much the users themselves want 3D content. What we're more looking forward to is the offering of a new business model. Nintendo has been in the hardware business for a long time, and I believe they must be looking closely at Apple's recent success."
More than likely Tsujimoto was referring to the App Store on iTunes, hoping to see a similar service for the 3DS that could offer a wider range of downloads than the current DSiWare service. Tsujimoto's comments came after praising the success of NTT DoCoMo, an extremely popular mobile phone operator in Japan. Tsujimoto credited its "full business model" for its success, which allowed for a wider range of content than competing mobile phone operators.
"We third parties are paying attention to Nintendo's E3 3DS announcement because of this point as well," Tsujimoto said, suggesting it's not just Capcom who would like to see a wider range of downloadable content on Nintendo's new handheld.
All will be revealed when Nintendo showcases the 3DS at E3 next week, so we'll find out soon whether Nintendo intends to provide the kind of business model Capcom's CEO would like to see.

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179686Back at GDC, Power Gig: Rise of the SixString drew our attention by being the one band-focused music game that will utilize an actual electric guitar. With a flip of a switch, you can go from plugging the proprietary SixString guitar controller into your console to plugging it into any standard amp. Well, today publisher/developer Seven45 Studios is showing off an even more unique peripheral: the AirStrike Drum.
Instead of the drumpad and cymbals that you might find in a regular Rock Band/Guitar Hero-style fake plastic drum kit, the AirStrike uses special drumsticks that work alongside an LED-bearing foot unit. We're not AirStrike engineers, but based on our understanding, it seems that the LED indicators on the drumsticks sync up with the colored LEDs that rest by your feet to pull off the, "I'm hitting the blue/yellow/red/green pad without physically hitting it" effect.
Seven45 Studios chairman and CEO Bernard Chu states in the press release, "We know that people may be skeptical of the AirStrike drums at first glance when they see there's no actual drums and can't understand how that's a match to our SixString guitar which is a fully-functioning electric guitar. But we also know that as soon as people sit down to play it, they are going to see how much more real and authentic it feels to be moving much the same way true drummers do when they play, without the limits of the drum kits already on the market. Just like our guitars, the AirStrike drums are a step forward for authenticity in the band game genre."
Additionally, Seven45 Studios is also announcing that Power Gig will contain tracks from Kid Rock, Eric Clapton, and Dave Matthews Band (all of whom are exclusive). Seven45's press release quotes Dave Matthews with, "unlike any others before it, it puts a real guitar into the hands of aspiring musicians, and we hope it inspires our fans and others to start playing even when they?re not playing the game," and Kid Rock with, "The reason I signed up with Power Gig is because this game is a way to not only have fun, but also to play real notes on an actual guitar!"
Power Gig is slated to ship in October this fall; keep an eye out for more impressions regarding the song list, and as to whether the Airstrike peripheral feels like actual drumming or like Ravi Drums.
I guess KH3 will be at the next E3...maybe.

Coded isn't canon actually so I don't see why he wants to do this.Square Enix has announced its lineup of games to be shown at E3, and, while there may be surprises yet to be revealed, the company has already unveiled a rather big one. Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, a new DS game by 358/2 Days developer h.a.n.d., will be on display at the show.
The game sounds like an action-RPG remake of the Japan-only mobile game Kingdom Hearts: Coded, in which a virtual Sora retraces his steps through the original Kingdom Hearts. "Jiminy Cricket is looking over the journal he used to document his first adventure with Sora when he discovers a mysterious message," according to the description of Re:Coded included in Square's E3 press release. "He didn't write it – so how on earth did it get there? King Mickey is determined to find out, so he and his friends decide to digitize the journal and delve into its deepest secrets. Inside this "datascape" dwells a second Sora who is about to embark on a grand adventure of his very own."
The game currently has a "TBD" release date. Square Enix didn't specify how much of the game would be shown, but considering it's just been announced, we expect little more than a trailer.
because they get to take a game they already made, remake it with just a little effort, and then make loads of money off of it again?
yeah that doesn't sound like S-E at all
Sounds more like a localization with added features, but whatever you say.because they get to take a game they already made, remake it with just a little effort, and then make loads of money off of it again?
Figures, maybe they'll reveal it at TGS.
no need to get huffy, there's a 99.9% chance I'll buy it too
Of course they would, see; Chrono Trigger.
Dunno what this game has to do with it though. Too bad it's for lolDS.
That woosh might have taken down some trees, holy dicks.
