I just spoke to a PR rep from Nintendo, we're on the way to the sony conference, she said no official release date or pricing for the 3DS just yet, but she doubt we'll see the 3DS this year.

Metal Gear 1/2 started on the MSX computer.

MG1 got a shitty NES port, followed by a sequel Hideo had nothing to work with.

MG Solid's first home was on the PSX, and then I assume you know of which platforms all the following MGS came out on.
