Ah man, brings back memories when I worked for the "Puente Program," which basically helps Latino students transfer to a university. Here in California they are allowed to attend public universities. However, not all are eligible only those that have graduated high school. Unfortunately, there's no financial aid of for them, only like private scholarships. Most of the scholarships out there require them to be legal residents/citizens. They can't get loans either.

If they do decide to work, then they need to find a job where the employer doesn't ask them for any type of documents at all such as state ID, SSN, or work permits, etc. Why? Because by doing so they are committing a felony (or misdemeanor?) - this assuming they provide fake documentation - and may fuck up their chances of ever becoming legal residents. Thankfully, they can get an "expungement" to clear that up. Of course, that ordeal costs thousands of dollars.

A couple of times undocumented students asked me what was the point of attending a four-year university if after they graduate they wouldn't be able to work. I'd get on one knee and said to them like a father would, "son, you may not be able to work after you graduate, heck they may even deport you. You may or may not get a chance to become a legal resident later on. But you know what? Your education, that's something they can't take away from you." Then I'd walk away, no joke by the way <_<

The girl has less of a chance to be hired at her job of choice then the college drop out at his job of "choice". I'm not arguing that an illegal immigrant has to break a law in order to work. I am recognizing that for a law must be broken for an illegal immigrant to work - and if an illegal immigrant gives a false social security number (necessary for the collection of income taxes), that is illegal. Do you deny this?

If you're working and paying taxes as an illegal, you are breaking the law. You can't pay income taxes without a social security number - if you give a false one, that is against the law. If you don't file income taxes, that is against the law.
