Earlier versions don't always go to 1050 because world gen has a maximum of 1050 years but can be stopped earlier if a certain percent of megabeasts are killed. But in 0.31.x, megabeasts cannot be killed during worldgen so it always goes to 1050.

Being one season in is basically nothing, it's enough time to have a start on a fortress.

Don't expect anything big to happen for about two years or so.
If you want action, start in a sinister/haunted/terrifying biome.

So I played a game lastnight/this morning that I know I was playing for about 3-4 hours and went at least one year into game time.

I was just getting my wall up around my fort because I didnt have any mountains and then kobols kept constantly attacking and I finally figured out how to use my military. It took me like an hour to learn where the fuck the goblins were because I couldnt recognize them on this tile set.

My biggest problem right now is I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH ALL MY DORFS.

I keep getting migrants after migrants after migrants and I just dont know what to do with them all. I end up having like 10 people smoothing my bedroom walls/floors because I dont know what else to do with them.

I've built every single workshop, made several of every item, tried to build out the entire tech tree which I think I've done pretty well but I just dont know what to do now. Survive? That's not really a problem. Even with like 20/25 dorfs smoothing walls and 3 dorfs mining that still gives me 2 dorfs to make barrles, brew drink, and farm with.
