Buying a PS3 tomorrow

Was White Knight Chronicles a good buy? I don't think I saw that mentioned here yet.

Only if you're super hardcore into grinding.

I've put in like close to 300 hours into the game and still have ways to go gearwise, and I'm sure the other GR15 in the WKC topic has at least twice that hours put in, though it's not really for everyone, especially if you buy RPG for story, since it's a fucking middle school drama club level of production.

Since you have a PC/360 already, here's the PS3 exclusives that I've enjoyed:

MGS4
Disgaea 3 (yeah, grindan gaems, I know, but I enjoyed it!)
Valkyria Chronicles
Demon's Souls
3D Dot Heroes

Games I wouldnt recommend:
Uncharted 1/2 (yeah, people are going to kill me for this one, but I've found the experience to just be blah)
Heavenly Sword (woohoo mediocre action game with great graphics and 8 hours of gameplay)
Little Big Planet (Seemed like an awesome idea, but it got old quickly, and online was just full of levels to get trophies with. Additonally, the level editor was silly and frustrating to use, and this is coming from a software engineer. I do have high hopes for LBP2, though!

Looking back having completed it, I don't think I'd get Valkyria Chronicles unless I was reeeeeally interested in the DLC and the new game plus.


Once I figured out that getting an A ranking on fights means figuring out how to do damn near everything with a single scout slightly supported by a Lancer, an Engineer, and a small tank, it got really damn boring and left me ready for it to end when I got there, with no interest whatsoever in any of the extra content.

SSFIV, hella cheap and one of the best fighting games. Bayonetta is a great action game, even better than DMC4.

Can't go wrong w/ U1 and U2 either.

Eternal Sonata is so underrated, but I thought it was actually pretty good, but that's just my Opinion.

If you're gonna play White Knight Chronicles just for story, I'd just wait till 2nd one releases.

Yeah White Knight is kind of generic, but I found it alright. Can pick it up used for $20 at gamefly sale right now and it is def worth that. Seconding Wipeout.

Not sure why Bayonetta is being recommended when OP said they have an Xbox as that version is much better.

FF13.... duh
Ratchet and Clank: both of em ~_~ 2nd might be a tad high in price to buy right out now.
heavy rain: so fucking worth it, had a blast with this game.
Demons souls: you want a hard game? this shit is for you, nothing on the 360 or ps3 comes close to as hard as this game
Metal Gear Solid 4: If you like MGS you will like this, Some people say the CS's are long(and they are) but it is done well and brings the story to a fairly well done ending.
Flower: if you have money to blow worth it ~_~
God Of War III: a tad short but worth it
God Of War I/II: A cheap combo pack well worth it if you did not play 1 and 2 on the ps2
Little big Planet: Fun game ~_~ lol its odd and takes some getting use to.
Uncharted 1 + 2: both games fucking rock hard core.
MLB The Show: this is made by sony and as shojin pointed out its the good one, the other sucks
MW2: SP was fun, the online will make you rage but its fun.
Bioshock1 and Bioshock2: 1 is fully worth it and is cheap 2 is good as well)
GTA4: cant speak of add ons, tho people say they are fun
AS1/2: both great
Dragon Age: Its a fun game, took me some time to get into it but I had fun, never did beat it.

Oh and a random one to throw in the mix... I sorta had fun in the 50cent game lol. My brother bought it and its just funny as hell to play. Someone said borderlands ~_~ really That is something I bought for the PC and think its better. tho most FPS games are better on PC; outside MW2 wtf did they do to that lol

edit: added some games I forgot about, the PS3 list really is good, when you look at it you have a lot of play time that you can get out of that list. Bold as I said are the better PS3(none 360 titles) ps3 did a good job the last year and this year to bring games that made the system worth the money many spent(like me >.> $500 lol)

FF XIII:Versus and Twisted metal will make it in 2010 >.<? Guess E3 might give us a little insight into that question.

Versus I very much doubt, I would guess at late 2011. Twisted Metal possibly, I think we'll hear something from Jaffe at E3 about his new game, but I think it will more likely be an early 2011 title.

Yakuza 3 is already out in US, launched same day as FF13. (Yeah, Sega is dumb.)

4 is out in Japan. We'll have to see if Yakuza 3 US sales were decent enough for Sega to port 4 to the US. Unless you feel like importing a copy.

Thought the PS3 version got a update making it close to the same as xbox version of Bayonetta? My memory is a little hazy, but I thought they released a patch to fix long loading times on PS3 version, or was there something else wrong with it that I'm forgetting?

They fixed loading times, but it is a poor port that was done by the publisher and not the developer. Image quality is worse (I think PS3 version lacks AA), LOTS of tearing and a lower frame rate. If you have the choice and want the game, definitely get the 360 version.

That's what I forgot then, the Frame Rate problem. Nevermind on the whole Bayonetta thing. Not sure what price is on Eternal Sonata, but if it's pretty cheap I'd try it out if you haven't played the xbox version. I don't think it's that bad of an RPG, but not sure how others felt about it.
