Where the hell do I enter my alpha code aka Tonko Appreciation Thread

I keep getting an error while patching. Any other Vista 86bit folk having an issue?

anyway I'll just quote what i posed last time for someone that had a similar issue and got it fixed

Depending on if your using mac/windows this could be different! I had a similar issue... redownloading wotlk

Go to your cata folder and remove every *patch*.mpq file
then look for all your patch files download, and remove them also (the ones that have alot numbers with an exe on the end), run repair.exe (if cata has one, it should)

restart patcher, and don't sit and hit "next" as soon as the patch finishes, sometimes when it finishes it "hangs" for a bit, and you have to wait for the machine to stop grinding on whatever its doing with the patch (I waited about 15min just to be sure before I force close it if it didn't seem to finish)

very last resort is to remove it all and redownload it all (yes all 13gb+) as something may have been severely fucked up

also if alpha servers recently got a new patch it may have an error in it and have to wait for them to fix it (which is possible, happened alot in wotlk beta)

I have vista x86 and did not have an issue. I do get BSOD on the test client and not on live though. : (

This was probably due to the way they're changing the shading and lighting and the way the gfx and cpu handle it. Nothing too out of place in an alpha client.

Thanks! I did try reinstalling it all first and still got the error. But perhaps I wasn't thorough enough removing it. I'll play around more tonight.

I hear nvidia cards have some issues with the alpha, no problems so far on win7 x64 on ati video card

I haven't had any issues personally with my GTX480. Best thing to do is make sure your drivers are up to date.

Yea I have the latest non beta drivers right now. I haven't got a BSOD yet, but I am getting the same error every 3-4minutes after being logged in regardless of where I am. : (

There should be a link to it in the same e-mail that gave you the download instructions for the alpha client, don't think you have to do anything special to actually get on them.

access can be weird at first, if the link doesn't work log in to the alpha and try again.
