In the defense of Newark, I live in Bloomfield (which is a town over) and the place has cleaned up alot in the last 10 years. It's nothing like it used to be.
Bloomfield Diner is alright, but if you get off at exit 148 I would head to the Nevada Diner, that place is delicious.
It's always soda.
Born and raised North Jersey, exit 161. Other than going shopping in Paramus... as already mentioned... just go to NYC, lol.
Well I prefer Coke to Pepsi anyway, but it is generally called soda.
And why is that?
Yea, in my first post I warned to avoid Irvington. There really isn't any reason to be there and crime is high. People are scared of being victims of crime, more news at 11...This is true, just that they all decided to move to Irvington. Maplewood is the next town over, I hope they get it next. White folks are terrified of this place, it's pretty hilarious.
If you are only in north jersey, then I'm sorry for you. It smells, it's all cities and industrial - basically only thing to do is go to NYC.
If you are in central and near the shore, then load up on wawa iced tea and eat at local pizza places. Our worst water in the country gives us the best pizza.
exit 82 ftw.
lol did you really just try to talk up new jersey by generalizing another part of NJ? There's plenty of good pizza/food places in northern NJ too, and places like Bergen/Morris/Sussex County are pretty clean, upscale areas. Granted there's not a lot to do except shop and eat especially if you're not a local, but that's true of just about anywhere in the United States.
Parts of Bergen county are pretty fucking ridiculous in terms of big houses and ritzy shopping (ridgewood, alpine, saddle river, etc), but it's definitely an expensive place to live. Also Garden State Plaza fucking blows. I just shop at Riverside Square now, since it's ridiculously opulent and never has any people in it besides rich korean ladies.
Will vouch for it... definitely hit up Grease Trucks by Rutgers.
Fat Knight ftmw.
I will say that one of the worst parts of living in Bergen County is that it's one of the last places in the U.S. that still has Blue Laws-- almost nothing is open on sunday, no malls, no clothing stores, etc. Some Gamestops get around this by being entertainment, and of course things like supermarkets/restaurants/movie theaters are exempt, but in some towns you can't even buy dog food because it's not considered a "necessity".
I guess it's kinda nice having a traffic-free day, but I can't imagine how fucked you'd be if you were an observant jew (of which there are plenty around here) who worked on weekdays... not that I can picture some Hasidim hitting up abercrombie but anyway lol
