BIOs not accepting any kind of input when it boots up

About two months ago I built a new PC, when I tried to turn it on this afternoon, it tried to boot OS from a CD/DVD drive, failed, and now refuses to take any form of keyboard input. The motherboard model is gigabyte EX58-UD3R. Any help is appreciated.

Check your mobo manual for a way to reset if it isn't posting correctly. Shit think my board has a reset button right on it lol.

Can easily reset most by removing the little battery and waiting a minute or so before putting it back. Otherwise, there's some jumpers to short for a minute or a button that should do it (all while pc is off).

Have any spare keyboards to check with? Lights on keyboard turning on or flashing at all on boot up? Or plug keyboard into a different pc and see if it works correctly? Oh, are you able to see the version of the bios on boot up? Updating may fix an issue, though you'll likely either need a floppy drive or a usb thumb drive.

Also wouldn't hurt to remove any disc in the drive if there is one, though that shouldn't actually matter at all normally...

Quick search lead me to this thread about problems with this motherboard: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...6094_12_0.html Not sure how much it could help if at all.

Went out, bought a new keyboard. That didn't work, and the battery idea dawned on me while driving home, and was reinforced here, so that is my next step. Thanks for the advice, I'll check that thread once I have something other than my phone to browse on.

    Edit: mission failed.

Make sure USB Keyboard support is enabled in the BIOS if you can get into it

Or try using a PS/2 keyboard lol

a usb>ps/2 adapter can possibly work also. have you tried plugging the keyboard into different usb ports?

All resolved, for some reason all my USB ports were disabled. No idea why or how this happened.

Might seem kind of silly, but you can try removing some RAM (or just all of it except for 1 of the sticks). If there is a memory problem, it can cause your input devices to not function. Pretty rare case, and in my experience it's only happened on PC's that don't make it to the log in screen.

You can fix what you need to fix, then reinsert the RAM. It's likely not related to your memory, but it's possible!
