CompUSA used to be my waifu. RIP
Newegg is the only way to go unless you can find a needle in a haystack for deals on single items like open box. Other than that, TDirect is shit now.

I've used Tigerdirect once, when buying a monitor. They have a return policy that allows you to return any item for any reason. I bought from them just to have a safety net in case of dead pixels (Newegg's policy on monitor returns is 8+ dead pixels I think). The monitor was fine, so I didn't have to use the return policy and can't comment on it. They were quick and I have nothing bad to say about them. But, aside from that one purchase, I always use Newegg. Overall, just a much better interface and I've always been impressed by their shipping speed, prices, customer service, etc.
Tigerdirect seems to have great sales, but I never buy electronics impulsively, so... kinda useless 99% of the time. Newegg has never disappointed me. 5 full builds + misc parts over several years and I haven't had a single problem with 'em yet. Only things I don't normally buy there are cases/fans/hsf/etc because I can usually find a better deal shopping around.
Newegg made me lol pretty hard a few years back, though, by shipping a fucking 1cc tube of arctic silver in an 18" square box with full bubble wrap.
I pick the lowest shipping price on newegg and get my order the next day. Shit is awesome as fuck. Same with threadless.
newegg is tight, i could build a budget pc for around $320
$420 cause of OS, why must microsoft charge so much money
320 + 100 for OS = 420
If I use the standard shipping with Newegg its 5+ days to get my item. When I use Tigerdirect I receive my item in 1-2 days from order on standard shipping. I live like 2 hours from the Tigerdirect warehouse its pretty sweet.
Why would you pay for the OS... http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thr...s-7-Repository
Isn't Tigerdirect affiliated with Circuit City in some way?
fuck i really wish i had checked this thread before i just bought a tv off tigerdirect, im in NJ so if the tv was on newegg id probably have it by the end of the week, DAMN IT
edit: nevermind was cheaper on tigerdirect, i can wait.
I use TigerDirect for heavy shit on the cheap (like cases) when it's Free Shipping and Bing cashback is high. Only time I really order stuff from newegg anymore is during their Black Friday sale. Everything else I get from Microcenter.
You just need to search online better. There are ways to get it very cheap or free. I spent only $30 or so on my 12 copies of Windows 7 Professional. I didn't spend any money on my legal copies of XP Pro or Server 2003 and Server 2008, other than my college tuition. $100 is cheap for Win7 anyway, since Home Premium retails for $200.
i don't even bother shopping around anymore unless it's a giant purchase (and even then i usually end up there) - i vote newegg as awesome in all areas
Is an awesome place. I never used their site, but they have a store not too far from me. They have great oddities you can get for cheap there if youre in to tinkering with electronics in general, and usually have great prices on everything compred to newegg. Some hardware is a bit higher though, notably video cards, but everything else is fairly similiar. Theyre also great for cables, connectors, dongels, etc.
I loved CompUSA. The 2nd computer I owned, a 486XT turbo lol, I got at Soft Warehouse back before they became CompUSA and went nationwide.
Newegg is the best all around now. For me though, I usually just need a random cable or small part these days, so I go to Altec Computers which is about 3 minutes away. If it's something important and I plan ahead, Newegg for sure.
Have always used NewEgg. No complaints yet. They've always done right by me.
I love newegg and their customer service has been great however if Im just getting some basic stuff I use amazon.
I was able to get free shipping from amazon for some stuff and even got it for 10bucks less than newegg. It all depends on what youre buying. If its less than 100, Id go zon if its cheaper (zon even sells newegg stuff too, so you get the bonus of amazon prime free shipping over neweggs cheap shipping). If its over 100 or a build, newegg all the way.
I bought a pile of anime-related stuff from Amazon recently.. was my first purchase from them tho so I didn't know each item would be coming from a different place. Very strange system they have.
