Honestly if that's the dude's first 75 job... Fuck some people that post in this thread expect perfection or near perfect competence from people. If I exp'd with that PLD at that level, I wouldn't complain. It looks acceptable to me, not great, not THAT good, but acceptable.

The root problem that I see there is that the guy has the wrong idea of what he should be gearing for. Getting a few of the pieces he has no doubt took a little effort, as it does appear to be his first 75 (via FFXIAH).

To me, it does look like he at least payed a little attention, so maybe he will take something to heart. If not, well, at least he's not wearing RSE or something.

What you dont see in the chat log is the previous 5 mins ish of me asking him why his choices were what they were, and seeing him do the things that he did. I tried light handed, when he continued to "LOL my body has more defense" me i started getting a tid bit more annoyed and the results you see posted.

Also if you notice, i suggested PCC > Chiv chain > Spectacles etc, trying to give him a less epensive alternate. Hell in this market, you could easily gear a half decent PLD setup off the AH for maybe < 1 mil.

He still didnt understand what i was trying to tell him while he was out of MP and my Main was cure bombing him with C-IV's because he was getting eaten alive by an EP bird.

First, mentioning PCC at all is stupid. You're complicating things for no reason when, if he ever has the means to get a PCC, he'll know it's better than Chiv Chain or Spectacles anyway, and that he should use it on PLD. Same for the Dusk shit. I highly doubt he could afford it, especially since PLD is apparently his first job. Besides, I think the "gay pride PLD" joke is fine enough when he's talking about avoiding Purple PLD Syndrome.

You're free not to play with him if you don't want to, but don't act like your attempt at helping him was anything other than a masturbatory "I know better than you" exercise.

I agree. Pld was my very first 75, and I looked almost exactly like that when lvling. he just needs time to learn about game mechanics and all the different gear possibilities.
Just like no town-shots, there should be a rule about no first-jobs(unless it's blatantly retarded). Because honestly, NO ONE had good gear when they first started playing.
