Geared properly it can put out some fairy nice numbers, but not something I'd bring out to a merit party and say its better then anything else you could bring outside of relic.

I used to merit on my NIN then I leveled Bard and well, I never knew what another job was until I said fuck this shit and just started showing up to events NIN/DRK and would tank shit, and then just randomly show up as SAM even tho asked to come as BRD, I told other people who had the job leveled to go play it, let them use my Sha'ir and my horns and did my own thing, was nice :D

He was getting torn apart because he blew all of him mp and relied solely on my gimpe thf alt to do the killing, when, you should know that raw defense on gear and gearing for >>>>> VIT <<<<< isnt going to save your ass constantly, but killing faster will. Otherwise, why in the hell would we as pld's ever use anything but Koenig and turtle up again like it was 2004. 2 extra defense, 4 vit on gallant surcoat doesnt beat out 5 str, 5 dex, 10 acc, 20 attack when it comes to killing squishy stuff like birds.

I agree. Pld was my very first 75, and I looked almost exactly like that when lvling. he just needs time to learn about game mechanics and all the different gear possibilities.
Just like no town-shots, there should be a rule about no first-jobs(unless it's blatantly retarded). Because honestly, NO ONE had good gear when they first started playing.

Absolutely correct, but at the same time, you can stand in whitegate for all of 10 secs and see atleast 1-2 pimped out plds including AEGIS/Excaliburs running aroung and /tell "you mind if i ask you something?" I get people sending me tells all the time about pld, rng and nin asking why i prefer certain pieces to others or why i dont have x piece. I admit, my pld is pretty damn gimp in comparison to alot of plds out there, but i still get what i can and try like hell to make up for it with more gear swaps and whatnot.


The whole point is, I never expect anyone, especially not a first 75 to have primo gear, but, at the same time, there are WAY too many resources available including wiki, forums and people in game that can quite simply say, +2 vit on your back isnt helping you, try going with this instead.

I work with autistic kids. I have one client who loves to play MMOs. I watched him play some games once, and saw how people made fun of his horrible spelling and nooby questions. I felt pretty bad for him so I don't really go out of my way to be a dick to noobs any more. You never know who is legitimately retarded irl and just can't help it.

pld is not a dd. they do not wear haub/homam/dd-esque pieces to kill a mob faster. you really think that if that pld put on a haub and got off 2-3 more melee swings on a mob it would really matter? really?

in case you haven't noticed, pld/war has no real survival abilities aside from sentinel, and they have a very limited mp pool. pld/nin are virtually useless without a brd and rdm, and before anyone says it pld in general are virtually useless. on top of that they can't hold hate for shit on anything that can't be atonement spammed, so pretty much everything worth a shit.

finally, why does it matter? i agree he should be wearing haub but you took it upon yourself to tell him things to upgrade but were a huge asshole to him about it like it was absolutely crucial for him to be wearing different gear. the biggest thing is that you went out of your way to mention a lot of pieces of gear he needs to replace and told him some shit about accuracy but for whatever reason not his rings?

I don't usually bother posting gimps, however I've been levelling subjobs recently and came across more than a few along the way....

Firstly, I appreciate it's in the Jungles but even so, try and make a little effort to gear your WHM....

Not long after this I got an invite to a Qufim Island PT - Lv22 sync - I'm not a big fan of partying any lower than Lv30 if I can avoid it but whatever, I'd been lfp on THF for a while and wanted the exp....here was the setup:

2 WHM's and a WAR tank, it can't be that bad I guess...so off we go to the lake and start pounding on mobs. I'm looking around and I see WHM #1 healing in the background and I look around for WHM #2.

I don't see any sign of anything that looks like another WHM as I pan the camera around, so I take a quick look down the party list to identify who the 2nd WHM is...can you see them in this screenshot?

That's right...I realise in a moment of horror that he's meleeing next to me. It gets worse though, melee WHM is PUNCHING the mob. Surely not...and hang on, what the hell is he wearing?

At this point the party has been going a few minutes, I'm getting exp and doing pretty much all the tanking as our WAR doesn't seem to have found what 'Provoke' does yet. Hang on a second....he's swinging a sword....and he's /thf....WTF?! Time to check that gear....

Oh dear...still getting exp although it would be fair to say I'd have been getting not far off the same doing FOV pages, but I'm a social person by nature and I'd rather party.

Well the exp is slowly rolling in but nightime arrives and predictably so do the undead. One of the pt members gets pwned by a ghost, we un-sync and I kill the offending mob. Then I see this in pt chat....

Gimp/Confused/WTF Player Thread XX: I had trouble seeing the blue arrow for cures.

Anyway, agro around the lake happens at night if you're not careful and I'm just glad I didn't get it after warning that it would happen if we didn't move. Happily the hours of darkness roll past, the undead go back to being....well....undead, and we get started again.

I'm getting pasted by the mob and I see my health getting lower and lower....so I politely ask for a cure or two from WHM #1 as WHM #2 is still meleeing after being told not to...anyway, here's what happened next....

Needless to say I was /wrists by this point and had just about had enough for one day so I said my goodbyes and left!

And THAT is why I always put "{Level Sync} Lv.30+ {Can I have it?}" in my /seacom now!
