And autotuned. Wouldn't want any expressiveness creeping into the vocals.
Also, any instruments other than guitar/bass/drums off limits. Adding a keyboard is acceptable if your frontman's hair is sufficiently messy.

only hip hop I listen to these days is MF and Lupe, and they rely pretty heavily on DAW's and sampling iirc

ironic thing is the guys I admire like Luciano and Villalobos use sampling of live instrumentation from local artists in Brazil. Like thumb clicks on guitars, strumming, live percussionists and such
