If you spend a lot of time at home you could also try an air purifier.

I have fucking horrible, debilitating allergies to everything. Literally everything...except for milk, eggs, a few types of mold, and like two other things. None of the prescription medicine has ever helped significantly, and I'm not allowed to get allergy shots because I have an inactive brain tumor.

    I'd try that laser thing.

The first thing you should definitely do is try to identify what's causing the reaction and remove it from the equation, or, remove yourself from it's source.

My girlfriends parents have had cats for a bajillion years. The first time I ever visited them I was pretty much incapacitated by my allergy to cat dander. I can't imagine being more miserable than I was for those 3 days. Her parents felt so bad that since that first visit, they basically cleaned out the entire house, carpets, sheets, everything and started using air cleaning systems (ionic breeze's or something of that sort). My allergies still hit me when I'm there (since they'll never get rid of their cats) but not nearly as badly as that first time.

On the flip side, I've also had a really bad pollen allergy. I grew up in suburban MA and every spring I just wanted to cut my own fucking face off because it sucked so much. When I moved to NYC, that allergy got left behind. Say what you want about the air in NYC, but one thing you won't find in it is pollen. I found the same to be true in LA. Las Vegas was fucking magical. Unless you're allergic to sand, the desert is an amazing place for sinuses. I live in Boston now have been surprisingly ok this spring, but again, urban area. The pollen just doesn't hang in the air in cities, if it's even there at all.

its a laser treatment, so no shots, no pills, no scratch tests, no pain. just takes a few minutes to get treated after you are diagnosed. i just started the treatment and had my first visit the other day. the only bad part is not many doctors have this because they think its too good to be true. also, its FDA approved. so it basically re=programs your nervous system to get rid of allergies.

i got diagnosed for the first time and turns out im slightly allergic to eggs. i personally never noticed a problem but it makes me hypersensitive to other things. after treatment i have to fast for 6 hours and also not eat anything egg related for 24 hours while the treatment does its thing.
I have a miracle cure-all I'd like to sell you. It's from the east!

I've gone through every pill, zyrtec has worked the longest for me. You can also try prescription shots from the doc, but those get pricey.
