I hope this doesnt include Sac, I want to be able to solo my swift belt.he level and distribution of enemies in certain Promathia areas
Meh come off it. You know we ourselves beat CoP forever and a day ago. Fuck helping others out anymore because of the sheer annoyance then (and I believe I've done CoP 1-1 ~ 8-5 over 5 times for others).
Now I can do it for everyone and they momma if it gives one more good player sea access for LS reasons. Speaking of that, now there should be no excuse under the sun why someone shouldn't have sea access.
I'm with whoever said they need to lift the cap on the nation 2-3 and 5-1 missions. Those missions are old as fuck, and don't pose any trouble to anyone at all if you have more than 1 person.
Solo'd all of the windurst missions except 2-3, 5-1 and 9-2 the other day. If I had 10 more minutes I could have solo'd 5-1.
That is a very good idea IMO. Frankly I think CoP missions were a pile of fail. But I understand why people enjoyed the challenge at the time. All they would have to do is allow you to make a choice when you enter the BC. Choose between "Classic", with the original level cap, or no level cap with the new setting.
Well, I don't think there's a problem with those 2 mission's level cap if you can already solo or duo them.
I'd say the same about CoP but those fights can't really be duoed for the most part.
I just want this update to get here already :<
Even with a "Classic" or "Normal" setting 98% of the player base doing the missions from then on would choose "Normal" and continue on.
This isn't directed at you or your comment, but I think a lot of us older players have forgotten 40% ish of the original 2004~2005 player-base dipped from FFXI to WoW because of CoP and it's difficulty at the time.
Someone mentioned that is change, it being good -- he couldn't have been more right. Nostalgia it up while you can gents, and I'm happy reading this thread made me remember shit too. Lol @ 30 people just to go up one floor of Promyvion-Dem at the jump off of CoP. Good times.
P.S.: The only REAL hard PM mission was 6-4. Even then it was all strategy and bullshit. Or 5~6 BLMs.
I did not find these missions hard either. I didn't really think they were much of a chellenge at all. Cleared 2 promyvion 1st day they were out, the 3rd the next day. This was back when the strays where really hard to kill. Went 1/1 on everything up till the airship where we wiped about 5 times because I had to tank on PLD and it was somewhat hard at the time and we won because we bought about 1 million worth of potions and elixers. Airship was probably the hardest fight in the expansion but still doable. Then went 1/1 on the rest. My group was the kind of people who would log out at npcs on patch day so we could be the first ones to finish.
SE said they are adding mobs that can be challenging to level 75 and above so its still going to be annoying to get to BCs. So not much has changed except fights will be easier and at this point hardly anyone ever whats to help those guys in WG that shout for CoP, I know I don't but at least they can probably solo the missins now.
when was the last time anyone did a CoP mission for the Challenge anyway?
I'd actually repeat some of them for the fun of it, if i didnt require finding someone who actually needed to do the mission in the first place.
Nah, at the rate they are going it won't be challenging at all to get to the BCs. After all, like someone else said, this is in preparation to get people to do these with smaller numbers. The zones will be akin to Lufaise Meadows; TW~Aggro-EP in most places, then a small but large space for DC~IT.
I'm very sure SE won't go out of their way to raise the levels on various CoP NMs as well (Swift Belt, Auditory Torque, Dia Wand, Voyager's Sallet, Stone Gorget come to mind) barring Absolute Virtue. Would just be too stupid to have a level 70+ NM drop a level 50 belt.
Way to miss the point dude. If SE were smart about they wouldn't restrict access to any areas or rings. They would just give everyone everything then let them choose to do the missions or not. Hell, it made more sense to get those rings before CoP considering how level caps worked with gear back them. (Also to nynja and whomever else: Don't put me in the same boat as the dudes complaining about their toys becoming common. I couldn't have a more opposite opinion. To put it bluntly: Fuck all equipment and levels. Most of the time they are filler/trash which gets in the way of enjoyable content.)
"Classic mission mode" are certainly a good way to go from here. They could do it for more than just missions if they wanted to make a lot of content. For example you could fight something like Roc at whatever cap he was introduced in and etc(actually this applies to many monsters with the upcoming updates). (Would be a good time to make these fights a little more interesting while they are at it.)
Missions are now certainly is more convenient! Of course it is not conceivable for many of you to consider what is lost at price of convenience. We are programmed as players to always get to the cheese as fast as possible, so when they decide to make the maze a straight-line I am sure joy is the most popular reaction. (Change is not always good.)
And this all relates to my original point to play for the story... how?
Oh no... CoP got nerfed, your not going to do it again, so what does it matter? Who cares how you experienced it? Newer players will experience it differently and returning players will be happy to have it done a little more easily and maybe enjoy the story.
I did find it easy and not as hard mode as you. So I said I don't understand how it was a challenge that you over glorify. CoP wasn't hard because my group didn't try to make it any harder than it was, straight forward setup and a straight forward fights. The battle mechanics are not confusing and hard to manage. Therefore missions were not challenging (for me).
My logic is actually: It wasn't easy because we 1/1'd the fight it was easy because we could handle the battle mechanics of that fight. Therefore no challenge was provided.
What about it made it challenging for you?
Are you satisfied with that challenge? If yes, move on. If no, move on.
Having a mid-life crisis over an 6 year old expansion cause they FINALLY decided to nerf it is just silly. They're likely not nerfing it because people found it "Challenging" or "hard" but because they want to prevent future crying that there are no camps. The BC's are probably like a "might as well".
And in the case you missed my original point again:
