Level sync solves a lot of problems, but then it also makes for some incredibly dull level ranges. I mean being able to make parties faster, to exp with friends, and the scaling-equipment update that came with it were basically exactly what the game needed. However the trade off is that "oh man, 25 level of crabs!" becomes literal. Literally 25 levels of worms and colibri(people dinging 75 their first time in Qufim). Except worse because it is the same EXACT breed of worms and colibri. (All of this is a race so you can do more than 25-levels worth of merit points on more colibri).

Then again just as much fault lies with shitty monsters like colibri. What I am saying at this point is blasphemy. To go one step further: leveling in general is a gigantic waste of time. But every little bit of difficulty(or accessibility to new powers and shit) helps. But really... you know what? FFXI would have been better if it had no levels to begin with. That's true for every videogame. Wouldn't have to deal with this shit, anyway.

EDIT: As for Nomad Moogles: Ah, who gives a shit? It is not like the game has some survival element to it. It isn't Oregon Trail.

I dunno, I liked leveling way back in the day. Manaburn parties in KRT in the "amigad secret" room and Vrtra's room in the corner. Soloing goldfish in sea, elementals in sky, blah blah blah. The old FFXI was completely fucked but goddamn did I love it.

CoP is certainly nostalgia at this point. No game was before or since capable of giving me that beautiful feeling of dread like Promyvions. The feeling didn't completely go away with stuff like Mammets and Omega/Ultima.
