It's no secret that Samsung wants to spread its high-end Galaxy S far and wide, but the exact details of its US attack have been a mystery thus far. TmoNews is reporting a "trusted source" as saying that the phone is pegged for a launch on T-Mobile on July 21, which matches up with some chatter we've been hearing as well. Though T-Mobile's been supporting Android as aggressively as any carrier in the world, the company lacks a hero device -- something akin to the Droid Incredible or EVO 4G -- so it would stand to reason that Samsung's best Android gear to date would be a good fit over there. Nothing wrong with a Super AMOLED display in a sub-10mm shell, now, is there? In the meantime, we've been invited to an event on June 29 to see "the next generation in Android smartphones" from Sammy, so we're hoping for some more details then -- and naturally, we'll be on hand.

I shit bricks. T-Mobile with this phone will even it up across carriers now.

Sprint - HTC EVO 4G
Verizon - HTC Incredible
T-Mobile - Samsung Galaxy S
Nexus One whoring itself out.

They just reconfigured the N1 to record 720p? I hope this can be done with the Incredible... I need that phone NOW.

Yeah they did but are still trying to get a good bitrate/FPS going on. So far they've managed to get 30FPS on standard recording and 22FPS at 720p.

The fix only works with Cyanogen's 5.0.8 ROM until Froyo is officially released.

It's an overlay Motorola puts over the default Android UI. The one for the original Droid was apparently a POS (hogging resources, ugly, etc) so a lot of people of people are worried about it. But the people that have gotten their hands on the Droid X are saying this new version of Blur is a lot better then the last one.

May as wait till its out in stores and check it out for yourself before you decide to cancel your order. You can return the phone for up to 30 days after you get it.

Galaxy S exists, yes. Galaxy S Pro is the qwerty touting version which according to a mobile reviewer is supposedly in the works.

Thank you for pointing this out. I almost went for a different phone because I'd only seen the Galaxy S and the lack of a qwerty was a deal breaker. If the Galaxy S Pro is real, that's a strong contender for me (though Samsung keyboards I've dealt with in the past have felt unsturdy, hopefully this will be a little better - I like a phone with some weight to it).

Samsung's build quality is usually crap, and I read preview of the Galaxy S earlier today and they said that it still that it has some of those issues with the build, though there was obviously no denying that under the hood it's an absolute beast.

Edit : I say from experience because I've used 2 samsung phones before and they were both awful.

Interesting update. Both the Droid X and Droid 2 have motorola modified snapdragon chips instead of the TI OMAPs that were speculated before. Basically means that both the droid 2 and droid x are going to destroy any HTC device, and even the Nexus One 2.2 build barely beats the 2.1 Motoblur on Shadow X.
