I was wondering about that myself, so I looked up the rules. If I'm reading it right, it looks like if you pick the USA in the #1 spot in Group C and to advance to the semifinals, and they get the #2 spot, you still get half the available points for them advancing, so you get at least partial credit for picking a team to advance, even if they're in the wrong spot.

It's interesting enough, but are they drawing a correlation between the success of soccer and both the country's population and GDP per capita? Is there any supporting documentation which back these up as valid criteria? Seems odd.

It really hadn't occurred to me just how much harder draws would make this, but I suppose it is basically a 50% increase in odds at least, if not difficulty.

Didn't expect it to be this apparent, though.

Yea fucking draws. I actually thought I had switched my Ivory coast - Portugal pick to a draw, guess I forgot to though...still tied in second place atm though.

All these god damn draws, wonder if this will continue after all the teams are done playing their opening games. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I'm doing really bad in the bracket one. I tried to do some picks that would make me look really smart if they worked, but are backfiring. I.E. Brazil and Argentina both coming out of their groups in 2nd.
