Jeez, finally beat this game, over 100 hours on my finished save. >.> I did as many quests as I could before wanting to just finish the game.

I felt so overleveled for a lot of the game, but near the end, bosses definitely started to get ahead of me.

Not really major story or enemy spoilers, but just in case:
    Spoiler: show
Final boss was pretty tough in the mid 70s. >.> Not even quite sure how I won. New game+ should be much easier, definitely going to try and finish everything in that.

Still hoping this eventually comes out here though. =(

Just finished as well. I have <80 hours on my save but I think most of my towns are only 2 stars. My last boss battle lagged horribly for some reason.... it was like playing in slomo but I did end up beating it. Guess I will play this awhile longer in NG+ then move on to dead island once it arrives

Finally finished this. Last boss was a joke at 78-79. The hardest boss by far was
    Spoiler: show
    Disciple Lorithia

Cleared it with about 70 hours on the clock. Skipped a lot of quests. Every town affinity was 1star except for Colony 9, which was 4. Still a ton of content to cover in NG+

    Pretty much agree.

    Spoiler: show
Final boss was only really hard for me because Sharla kept deciding to just stand in front of the boss and get killed quite frequently. >.>

First time I tried fighting Lorithia, I didn't have Melia on my team, and it was just taking too long, so, I gave up and just swapped out Shulk for her and it was a complete joke.

finally getting into this. having some issues with emulation though :/ and I feel like my rig should be able to handle it just fine. I'm running:

    - GTX 560 Ti 1GB
    - AMD Phenom II x4 3.2Ghz
    - 4GB RAM
    - the "scrubbed" iso, with the 30FPS patch

I've tried pretty much every variety of settings I can think of and, at last count, five different versions of Dolphin. with the patched version of Dolphin it runs fairly well but there are still moments of crackling (HLE sound) or stuttering (LLE sound), sometimes lasting upwards of a minute at a time. framerate also dips, always in the same places. it usually happens when the game gets hectic (opening cut-scenes with the mechs) but I've also seen it happen when people are just standing around talking and there isn't a whole lot going on.

any suggestions on Dolphin settings to minimize the annoyance? like I said, it's playable... but I don't want to deal with massive stuttering every time things get a little busy.

also, what are the different revisions of Dolphin about? I go on their page and I see 3.0-153, 3.0-152, etc. but then I see people saying they are using stuff like "r7719" or "r7714," and I'm not sure what that means or how to try it out.

also tried soft-modding my Wii but my biggest SD card is 8GB... and the iso is just over 8GB. don't feel like buying a new SD card, external USB drive, or physical copy of the game to get around that.

all of that said, I'll find a way to make this work, because even five minutes in I can tell this is a classic in every way.

I never got the sound issues fixed on mine, while annoying, I just stopped caring about them eventually.

You can try some of the things in here: http://forums.dolphin-emulator.com/s....php?tid=14588 (Not sure if they work though, I didn't even think to look for this when I was playing.)

I think there might be some patched version of the game that fixes the sound issues somewhere in that topic too, but it is quite a huge topic and I didn't look through all of it. x.x

lol I saw that thread before but it is so intimidating... plus it started wayyy back when the JP release happened. but it's slow enough at work today that I have time to kill so I guess I'll start at the last page and work my way back. I've found a few tips already that I hadn't tried so we'll see what I can come up with tonight. some people are saying they have had absolutely zero issues, and that is my goal!

...and if that doesn't happen, the game is so fucking good I will just deal with the issues. feels like a modern-day version of a classic SNES RPG and I love it.

You can use wii scrubber to delete useless language files from the .iso. I did a quick pass through of the files and deleted anything that looked like it was english voices, or language files other than english (and jp voices), and i got the .iso down to 5.5 gb, without losing anything of importance. There's a version floating around the net which fits on a single dvd (4.7 gb), using english voices, so there's probably even more you could get rid of that i missed.

thanks for the tip, if I can't get it running perfectly on Dolphin I'm going to have to try that, since I'm sure as hell not buying a 16GB SD card for one game lol

I finally completed this game after 145 hours. It was getting a little boring toward the end (doing every single quests and NM), but other than that, it was amazingly fun. I loved the battle system, the story was epic, the environment was some of the most beautiful I've seen (I really wish other developer would focus on creating huge and creative environment, rather than high quality model and mapping). I felt like a kid again exploring this world, and it's something I truly miss with most next-gen game (I'm looking at you ffxiii).

It was not without flaw, but most of the time, they were rather insignificant and didn't really hurt the game (ie: trading gift was way too long, had to be too close to npc to see them, too hard to find certain npc, waaaay too many useless armor, lack of significant endgame reward..etc). When you compare this to something like FFXIV which is strangely similar, yet terrible, this game truly is top tier

My biggest gripe, if I have one, is the subpar script. The plot itself is amazing, but the character weren't as good as they could have been. There is many scenes where they were just plain dumb or corny...but its not uncommon in j-rpg I guess.

    [edit]
And I almost forgot the best part...the music. This game deserve the best OST of the year, every year.

yeah the music is phenomenal. I'm a few minutes in and I can already say that.

landscapes are also incredible. a true triumph of design over polygon count. just imagine what these guys could have done with the PS3's power...

also, how the hell do I save? lol

Far left icon on the menu, you may not be able to until you open that bar up which is not that far in I don't think. Should see the settings icon and then from there save / load icons. You get three save slots.

A linear game with 5 areas that is 25 hours long.

They probably didn't have that much money to begin with, so I don't think they could have done much better on ps3 without sacrificing something else. I mean, the resolution would be better and the maping much cleaner (like on dolphin emulator) and water/lightning effect would be improved, but all around, making a game of that lenght look better would probably take forever.

To save, just pop the menu (the one with map, equipment, ability..) and pick the rightmost icon. You can't save until you control Shulk.

It is too bad they are basically owned by nintendo, so chances of a port or a new game of similar quality from them on the PS3/Xbox is pretty much impossible.

played around with this some more last night, and now I have it running in 1024x768 with maxed-out SSAA and anisotropic filtering with minimal glitches. and damn, with those settings it looks good. it froze once (actually hung up my whole computer) and the sound has minimal distortion here and there but it's much less annoying than it was during the opening mech battles. I think those cut-scenes were too intense to serve as a good benchmark, in retrospect.

just got control of the girl for the first time so I'm not very far in but already loving it. for the life of me I cannot understand why this game was not released here.

oh and I love the freedom the game gives you... I jumped off one edge of the Colony and fell like 50 feet into a giant lake... then swum to the shore and got my ass handed to me by some frog monster. for some reason, that just made me love the game even more.

Every minute spent with the Japanese version, and then every minute spent with the EU version I thought the exact same thing... I cannot understand it. I haven't been following since the EU release and Reggie's "We will be watching the EU sales numbers" but has ANYTHING been said from NoA since?
