It's the same way of thinking that screwed up an entire generation already. "Every child is special!" No, every child is not special. In fact most children are fucking idiots who grow up to be fucking idiot adults. I think Carlin is the one who did the logical "if every child is special then doesn't that mean that every adult must therefor be special too?" rant and it was glorious. Now we have, "Oh, my Billy is just being creative." No, your little Billy has a very loose association with reality and will probably overdose on alcohol and pain meds at age 19 when his "one true dracula love" dumps him for some other fag with a motorcycle.

I meant fads, they pop up every generation/all the time. I don't see them doing much harm... most just grow out of it, its just a phase kids get into. I would definitely say a lot of them have it easier nowadays, and that isn't a bad thing. I think a lot of people have been taught that diversity is something that is common and expected. Sure they will get made fun but it isn't like how it was in them old days. You really liked having someone getting beat up because of a way they choose to dress? I would hope we have, at this point, evolved past silly things like that and accepting people can be different.

If it was just dress I'd have no problem. Many people around here know that when I was younger I had a very large, dyed mohawk which was a degeneration from 11 inch liberty spikes. I grew up going to basement punk shows in the mid to late 90's around Boston when starting when I was 11.

There's a difference between dressing some way and associating yourself with a fad and then carrying around the skull of a dead fucking dog because you believe it intrinsically gives you werewolf powers. Or truly, truly, truly believing you have vampire power just because you thought Twilight movies were A+.

I'm not saying these are the majority but they do exist and in terrifyingly large numbers. The reason it's so much more prevalent today is because we're all so "accepting." Sure for many of them it's just a cry for attention, whatever, but there are kids out there fucking killing dogs and shit (I followed the story on /b/ when it was actively ongoing but I don't remember the resolution I just remember reading the AIM convos from the people involved and they were fucking NUTS) and that's crossing the fucking line. The parents justify it by saying that "they aren't hurting anyone and they're just expressing themselves!"

Make-believe is fine and dandy. It's the actions I'm worried about. Even something as innocuous as walking around school drinking fake blood (tomato juice) is just downright fucking unacceptable, honestly. I couldn't even have soda in school because it was "bad for the kids" but this shit is A-OK? There's tolerance there is stupidity. I think we all know what I consider this.

Ic... I haven't read too deep into this whole thing lol. I assumed it was some furry fascination or w/e and kids were dressing up as animals with dog tails, which I have seen around. I didn't know it went to that extreme. Of course that is something that shouldn't be tolerated, beating them up isn't a good option but it all lies in their parents. Most of these people are just your average teenager angst trying to express themselves or get attention, although the ones going to the extreme need some intervention.

Eh, it's just another stupid fad that they'll grow out of and eventually be embarrassed about 10 years down the line. They're kids, they're supposed to have active imaginations and want to live in a fantasy world. But of the whatever amount of kids go around claiming to be werewolves, there's probably only like 1% of them who actually believe it and need help.

While I certainly don't agree or understand what they're thinking (it took all of 30 seconds for me to want to slap that first kid they interviewed in that video), I'm not gonna condemn them all as crazy future serial killers just yet. Kids do stupid things, it's why they're kids.

As for the one who started the whole thing, it's very clear she has mental and emotional issues right from the start, I don't even think she'll deny that much. But other then cleaning up roadkill, it's not like she did much wrong.
