Sony develops rollable OLED

Sony has developed an OLED that is able to be wrapped around a cylinder, assuming the cylinder has a radius of 4-mm or thicker. Coming only a few days after we saw Samsung's transparent AMOLED, we're starting to get pretty excited for the future around these parts. Sony's rollable OLED is TFT driven and is currently a 4.1 inch display. It comes in at a 432x240 resolution and sports 16M colors with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Perhaps we will see this technology a little later down the lines, currently it is stuck in the research phase. Hit the jump for a video of all the rolling action you can handle.

Im confused. How does Sony get the 'newly developed' mark, when bendable/flexable/rollable lcd/led screens have been shown numerous times in the mid 00's?

I remember first hearing about bendable OLEDs back in the late 90s. (Granted, they were B&W only at that time.)
