Samsung develops 19 inch transparent AMOLED

Samsung is showing off a 19-inch transparent AMOLED display at this years SID, up from the 14-inch model we saw back at CES earlier this year. They've achieved more than 30% transparency in newer models, which we may begin showing up on notebook computers very soon. Windshields and shop windows are some of the main places Samsung would like to see this technology implemented.

Yeah, you wouldn't really need a dashboard anymore, come to think of it. My question is, if you did install this in a windshield, how well does it stand up to moisture and winter/summer extremes?

Could spice up things in military or corporate offices that feel like they need to look like hollywood-style control rooms. Now all we need is holographic projections and hand gestural control over on-screen content.

They have both of these already... i know they had a 'touch' screen with cameras/sensors slightly behind the screen so you could wave your hands over it and such. be damned if i remember where i saw the video and such though

This. I think this would be an awesome idea as long as manufacturers don't go overboard to the point where it's a distraction.

Seems like it'd actually be safer if they moved the GPS and most dashboard controls onto a windshield HUD.
