    GTA (series)

I was just backing up my music and saw that I still had all of the radio stations from GTA 3 and on on my ipod (Vice city drew me in), and I thought, "damn what was my favorite GTA?"

After giving it little thought, I ended up picking Vice City, even though I grew up in the 90s, and remembered the majority of the music played in San Andreas. There was some lasting appeal for Vice City that stuck with me 8 or 9 years after its release.

The soundtrack was amazing, the story was albeit cliche, but still very well done and with a notable ensemble of voice actors. It was the first 3D GTA that had motorcycles, and I remember just spending hours riding along the beach on a Sanchez. The setting was also done extremely well done.

    Yours?

So far, Vice City. Though I have yet to play San Andreas and GTA 4.

Vice city here as well, although I did really enjoy 4 too. The other day I picked it up again and still remembered the map and missions perfectly even though I hadn't played it since high school. Didn't mind the single player in GTA 4 but free roam was always fun whenever you got a few buddies together.

I liked San Andreas because of the RPG elements they introduced, as well as multiple cities. The game just seemed way more epic than the others.

I liked 4 the best with Vice City trailing behind it by a little. I just thought 4 improved tenfold on everything that was already good with the series to begin with and the quality DLC that was put out afterwards only solidified as being the best one for me. Chatterbox from 3 is probably the all-time best radio station to be put into the series though. The on in 4 was a close second, but I still love listening to Chatterbox over and over again years later even though I know all the jokes.

Not a HUGE GTA fan but I do enjoy them as a pick up and play game. Vice City has by far been my favorite. Didn't really care for SA that much. VI was enjoyable, but truth be told, I liked the 2D games better.

Going to have to go with San Andreas here. I loved the sandboxing that was available once you unlocked all of the planes, the RPG elements, and the large map.

I was highly enjoying GTA4 until I realized that the playdates were more annoying than Navi on OOT. Also the lack of Jets and parachutes felt like a step backwards from San Andreas.

I'd play the game forever if they went back and remade San Andreas with GTA4's combat system.

Chatterbox..man I remember downloading it and burning it on a CD and playing that shit when I was bored.

GTA IV was great, I still play it (though for reasons of picking up other games) i've never finished it. After playing Red Dead I kind of want to go back and finish it off after I'm done with the main story for RDR.

San Andreas was fun, but I never had much time to play it, and it felt like a huge game with so many new features that I kind of felt overwhelmed with it. Then FFXI got in the way

GTA3, I played it non-stop doing the same things over and over and over again, and never got bored of it. I kind of set a goal, like, get 6 stars, and see how long i can survive or how much money I can get from killing the blue lady with the shades and what not.

GTA - Vice City was probably my fav, San Andreas was kind of fun for the glitches same with 4, but there really isn't much that stands out between them two that make them, amazingly fun.

GTA 2 was the fucking bomb, just going around killing shit in stolen police cars was the best part in that series lol.

Vice City was the best, and the only one I've played that I haven't gotten bored with and actually finished. 4 just felt...too real and not arcadey enough, not to mention having to deal with all those relationships all the fucking time annoyed me.

San Andreas then Vice City for me. I would probably like GTA4 more if I actually bought all the Add-ons and stuff.

Vice City offered the best gaming experience overall, and lacked the dull repetition that existed in both San Andreas (claiming/defending turf was a tedious chore) and IV (COUSIN, LET'S GO TO TITTY BAR!).

III is fine, but Vice City beats it. By a lot.

I'm kind of biaised on this.

I liked the first one better because it was a whole new concept at the time, and I still own a classic collector edition.

The second I haven't really played it much... Maybe I should

3rd I hated the ending... so bad. Lamest ever.

Vice city was THE BOMB. Played the hacked multiplayers for a long ass time.

San adreas I liked the storyline better than any other GTA. But the annoyance such has having to eat/work out/date/being black (sorry, I don't mean that in a racist way... but the graphics we're too lame at the time especially on a shit TV. I could barely see anything clothes wise or even his face.

GTA IV was ok.. Still the annoying cell phone/date though. But since dating is part of the story in that one, it wasn't such a HUGE problem near the end. Have not played any of the add-ons.

San Andreas is my favorite, mostly because it was the last GTA for the PS2 era and they really went all out and stuffed everything they could into this game. Growing up in the projects during the game's time period I pretty much got almost all the cultural references being thrown around, hearing Rider call CJ a Buster was hilarious the first time through cause it must have been 8 years since I last heard someone use that word.

I didn't really like alot of parts in the middle of the game tbh. I enjoyed how you were pretty much in a gang raking up territories and trying to run shit, and then they just drop you off in the redneck area and all that work you did capturing territories is gone. The way the game wraps up all the way from Sweets return to the final mission is pretty epic, and then after that you have a WHOLE lot of stuff you can do just to mess around. Take control of zones, normal driving shenanigans, flying shenanigans in either a Heli, Jet or just a simple Jetpack, you can customize CJ to be an average guy, a diesel MFer, a fat POS. It's just a giant sandbox game at that point and I'd probably still give it a go if my PS2 was still hooked up.

Screw those Remote Control plane missions though, hated that.

OH DEAR GOD, SO MUCH OF THIS.

I like the one at the start where you drive on a dock with someone in your car but you jump out before going off and he starts saying motherf but then the car hit the ramp in slowmo and into the water with the dude in the car saying fuuuuuuccccccckkkkeeeeeeerrrr in slowmo xD.

I laughed so fucking loud at that.

I guess it was a different version of this, I remembered this one as a dude at the end not a woman.
EDIT: LAWL, after watching the video in full I saw that it is in fact a man, screaming like a woman.

I like San Andreas just for how outright silly it was. You start the game by spray-painting your gang's colors under an overpass, and by the end of the game you are flying fighter jets, knocking over a casino, and flying around in a jet pack. Ridiculous but fun.

Also, I enjoyed playing the game with my roommates together because we would always find outrageous things to do. One of my roommates would enjoy shouting "GROVE STREET MOTHERFUCKER!" whenever he killed someone. One time at a party he got in a fight, knocked a guy out with a punch, and yelled "GROVE STREET MOTHERFUCKER!" over his unconscious body. Shit was hilarious.
