Read your terms of use. Unlimited Data Plans are not unlimited, usually there is a 5GB cap for Sprint. Might be that way for other companies too. But that's just like your regular ISP too, they have hard caps albeit very high. I think they are doing the tier thing because the person that maybe only uses 1gb of data a month is having to pay the same as someone who uses 5gb of data a month. So in theory, there could be less cost incurred for people who barely use data.

However, considering how most companies handle their thing, they would be ripping off the user who uses 1.1GB of data accidentally and having to pay per MB that 100 MB overage instead of automatically upgrading them to a 2GB plan. Welcome to Capitalism. Where money always talks and the customer is always wrong.

Sprints 4g is truly unlimited. Sprints original 3g broadband cards were also truly unlimited, and if you got in on that plan they are still unlimited. I know this because my friend uses is 3g card, and runs over 20 gigs a month.

"Let AT&T and Verizon yak about maps and 3G coverage, we're moving forward with what customers really want -- lightening [sic.] fast internet and uncapped 4G service." yes they are. I mean they might say "fuck off" and have a fail safe if you start to use like 1tb a week or something lol. but if your locked into the unlimited one there is nothing they can do.

Obviously if you tried to get your service ended, they would find a way to do it. What I mean is you can use 100GB a month and they won't send you as much as an email.
