I remember the 2 comics with the mutant leech that killed the cop and sucked the mutagen out of one of the turtles, reverting that character back into a regular turtle, was sad...
Archie's version was entertaining. Did get a lot more entertaining later in the series. There was cheesy story arcs to tie-in some of the toy releases though.. skip 'em.

Didn't Leonardo decapitate Shredder in one of the comics and then burnt his body? Been a loooooooong ass time but I specifically remember reading some crazy shit like that as a kid lol.

The creator they are probably working with is the one that sold all of his rights for TMNT, and now the editor and creator for "Heavy Metal" Kevin Eastman... but then, could also be Laird since he did sell the rights to Nickelodeon and allowed to do like 6 runs of TMNT via comic per year I think.

I know Eastman doesn't give a damn about TMNT, he's said it plenty of times he is done with the comic, so it would be Bay's logical decision to go to when he wants to make it "Hip". Also being of "Alien" origin also lends me to believe he is talking to Eastman instead of Laird.

are the TMNT comics from the 80's still around even? It was the early 2000's before I became aware that those existed prior to the TV show, and now I'm genuinely curious to read them.

Hell, the first cartoon as I remember it rivals most shit I've seen on TV for a coherent, overarching plot across 2, 3 seasons?

I read a couple of the comics, yeah they were more hardcore than the show for sure, lol. They were pretty gritty at times I think. Idk the turtles show was on when I was a very small child (I think my peak love for it was around 6-8 yrs old) but I did collect everything I could pertaining to it for a while. So sad I gave away all my action figures and stuff

They're trying too hard. If they wanna make it "hip," all they gotta do is... make it more like the Mirage comic. Seriously, every version of TMNT to manifest has only ever sported the faintest resemblance to the original turtles. Even the animated "TMNT Forever" movie spoofed on that point. The original turtles went hard and did not give a fuck.

Make it like the comic, throw some hip-hop references, a couple Lil' Wayne and Drake tracks, some satire mocking the old cartoon and movies (for the 80s babies), and boom: you got some shit today's kids can appreciate without butchering the origins or characters.

Look for the original Mirage comics that I think ended in 1992. After that they bounced around to different companies.

I'm pretty sure I still have copies of issue #1 and #2 of the original comic at my parents house. In issue #1 I remember Donatello knocking shredder off the top of a building, but I can't remember if he came back or not in later issues.

I do remember Raphael becoming Shredder in like the late 90s.

Man, that forum is like someone said. It's either trolling or those people have Bays cock in their mouth. It doesn't matter how the Alien turtles become mutated, the fact of the matter is that they're aliens who know kung fu.

Edit; I've come to the conclusion that anyone supporting the changes on that site is infact, just Bay posting. No one can call themselves a "Fan" and say it's okay to completely change how the turtles are created.
