PS- humor being described as "too deep" is an escape mechanism for the people who are "in on it" to attempt to justify their poor attempt at/perception of humor.

Obscure references are only funny when they're a punchline that only the people who are paying attention to the subject material for a long time will notice. That comic might be funny if there was a previous one where they made a similar allegory between certain items and luigi, but as it is it's so horribly obscure that even if you ascertain the point they're trying to make, it just loses all of its energy in the process of trying to make the association at all.

Dedede's superfluous presence in the first section only exacerbates this, too.
