The new NFS MMO that is coming out July 20th. Has anyone played the beta of it yet, and if so is the game any good? Thinking about going ahead and pre-ordering it for $18 bucks since it's free to play and worst case is I'll be out a small bit of money if it sucks. If someone has already played it though and can tell me if it's horrible or not that would be appreciated so I can save my money for a Steam sale or something.

As far as I'm aware there have been a few betas already so there should be a good bit of people that have tried it. I've read the gaming sites reviews, but wanted to hear from a regular person and not a magazine.

Also, are Direct2Drive games tied to D2D any way at all? I already have Steam so I don't want another game-manager type situation like it. I'm hoping it's just a straight digital download that isn't tied to anything. Just literally buying the CD key from them and downloading the client from them and that is all.

First of all sorry for bumping my own topic, but wanted people to see the coupon code and such below.

After thinking on it for a while I said fuck it and went ahead and pre-ordered it through direct2drive since they had the best bonus (Silvia S15, though the AE86 and Mazdaspeed 3 are not bad either) for my taste.

The first beta I'm guaranteed to get into is June 2nd-13th I think it was so I'll let you guys know how the game plays out then. There is great deal of potential for an arcade style racer MMO that's free to play (the game itself doesn't cost anything either unlike Guild Wars). I hope they will deliver, but if not worst case is I'm out $18 and have a MMO I can dick around on any time I'd like w/o worrying about having to pay a monthly fee again (like XI). Also won't have to feel pressured to log in. Always felt that way in XI cause if I didn't log on that month I just wasted ~$20.
