Personal Note: People like to debunk the existence of God, based on all the bad (war/disease/disasters/etc) in the world - as well as science. I like to justify His existence based on all the good, and "happy coincidences" in science pertaining to the existence of life. On earth, we have a wide variety of climates, land masses, conditions, etc - that are basically perfect for life. Plants and animals provide life to other plants and animals (inb4 "can the Avatar shit"), there's water, and the air isn't noxious gas.

We fuck it up pretty badly, but it still works - despite being an extremely delicate balance.

Humans can adapt to temperatures in the range of 0 -100 degrees (approximately - can survive outside that range, but not long). The lowest possible temperature is around -400F. The highest possible is somewhere in the millions (although extremely rare, it's possible - I forget the circumstances). And earth pretty much is in the range of 0-100 or so - it does get outside that range - but not in most places, and not that often.

Also, good thing our atmosphere contains oxygen instead of helium or some shit.

I'm not really afraid of death. OHSHIT moments, you know, those are scary because it's just your reaction. But the whole realization of it, to me, isn't something to be afraid of. I've lived my life thusfar becoming the person I always wanted to be, and lived a life I thought was just, so I really don't have regrets. I feel like it's all been beautifully, painfully pointless. I can't say that I've had the best memories, been the happiest, or had the most fun in life, but I feel like I've worked so hard to get to this point--appreciating the beauty of the process as something truly distinct--that even an empty life was rewarding just to play part in something novel. If it all came to an end now, the painting will have been exquisite, even if it had never been seen.

This is coming from a person who never really felt loved early on, had suicidal thoughts into his early 20's, and became a nurse so that he might "make a difference" in someone's death experience as a hospice nurse. I think it's important to go out surrounded by love, when time unravels and you get to see everyone (living and dead) one last time before light's out.

That's funny, because O2 is noxious to many things, including the first living thing on earth probably. The environment you evolve in won't be noxious...that's pretty much why you evolved this way in the first place.

I'm not afraid of death. I don't want to die, and I would attempt to save my life depending on the circumstances, but I consider death an inevitable outcome and I accept that. The fact that I think I'm going to heaven once I die probably has some effect on that, but it's not the whole reason.

i can't remember what my name when i got banned from KI was, but i think it was "zildus" or "zildor". it's like a funny demon name, like the guy in ghostbusters. i got banned b/c i would pick out a random post and tell the poster that the equipment they were talking about "is gimp". trolling was easier then. i also did some elaborate thing regarding sushi.

Too many other things going on in my life to worry about something I can do nothing to prevent. I really never think about it. If anything, I think about what its going to be like throughout my life as medicine advances, life expectancy climbs higher and higher, and what the end of life will look like in a half century.

i've walked down the red carpet of the so called "real world". my whole life, everyone has said "wait till you're 18 and you're out of the house, the real world will spit you up, etc etc etc"


well, it happened. and it was 10x worse than what i couldve ever prepared for haha. but this is coming from my perspective. i have no trustfunds/scholarships/a rich uncle in bel air/a family that has even 1 member with benefits.

I'd rather have my last thoughts be hopeful and vibrant and wishful and never have to be disappointed if there isn't anything on the other side or otherwise be rewarded with what I was hopeful for than have my last thoughts be cynicism over whether an afterlife exists or not.

This. I dont know why, but recently this thought has occurred to me as I lay down for sleep at night, and it near-panics me. I dont know why- I've thought this before growing up, and while it makes me uneasy, lately it totally terrifies me. One day- we'll be there. I will, you will, everyone on this board, everyone you know, will be waking up for their last day on earth. I hate that thought.

When I was in my pre-teens/midteens I was kind of terrified. Well more like I couldn't grasp the concept. "Death" wasn't very real up to that point. The idea of my "existence"(and it was THIS existence, of THIS world) could end was very different from casually saying my life would end. I sort of miss the feeling I got thinking about that those late nights. Nothing else quite like it. It was so absolute!

That feeling is hard to get back. So, no, I don't really fear death. "Live for the moment" etc. Kind of the reverse of hoping for a reward like an aftelife.

(And I expect by the time I am 80 or so, if I live that long, I'll be so tired of living that death won't be such a bad thing.)


EDIT: Actually I am more scared of my relatives finding a porn collection. So I make sure to make my computer squeaky clean.

Yeah, although I rarely think about it. Mexicans are raised to sorta like embrace it, it's part of one's life... a metamorphosis. Idk man, I guess the fear of leaving the little ones, wife, loved ones behind to the uncertainty.
