Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance

Watched this movie last night. It was awesome. However, did anyone else who watched it think the choice of music in those 2 scenes (if you watched it you'll know what I'm talking about) was just fucking awful and totally broke the feel of the moment. The first scene I could kinda see why it would be ok, but didn't agree with it. The second time it happened I was just angry, it was terrible and totally ruined the scene for me. I would actually pay money for a copy of it that someone edited in a different song more fitting to the scenes. Seriously, what the fuck..

Anyways, still a great movie, everyone should see it.

It made for a... grotesque feeling I guess. At first I also thought it doesn't fit the scenes, then I guess I assumed it added to the weirdness of Eva in general

I've only skimmed past it so far, that was the one scene where the music didn't really fit, apologies if I'm nowhere near what you meant.

This scene and the scene right before the credits. I was watching it with a bunch of other people and everyone was fucking baffled by the choice of music. I know eva is suppose to be weird, but this wasn't weird as much as it was obnoxious.

I downloaded a 6gb version off nyaa torrents, 1080p BRrip, but I'm not sure if it's the full 2.22 subs or just a 2.0 with missing scenes. Also, I'd rather discuss eva here than have to sift through all the different animes being discussed in the thread. I forget how I found out it was released a few days ago, but I know it wasn't from looking through that thread :3

Yeah I think the odd music was juxtaposed to amplify the horror of the respective scenes. I don't know if I totally agree with it, but I see what they were going for at least. Just like you, I was a bit off guard when the jpop/happy lyrics came in.

At first when I saw this scene, I was like... okay this is just bad. Then I thought about what I was watching, and understood why that piece was picked. It is perfect for the absolute brutality of the scene. The huge contrast is what makes it so good for me.

The ones that are .1 or .22, or whatever other decimals, are the "enhanced" dvd/bd versions, usually longer with added scenes that weren't in the theatrical versions.

They are not entirely new. They changed some of the angels, some of the pilots, storyline, description of tokyo III, etc. I am not sure what their intentions are.

The problem is there could of been many selections that would of been much better for "contrast" purposes. Everyone I talk with sounds more like they justify it more than like it. I get the feeling that it was the highest bidders rather than artist prerogative. Can anyone here really say that having no music at all during those scenes would of been worse than the music selections they had?
