Watched this movie last night. It was awesome. However, did anyone else who watched it think the choice of music in those 2 scenes (if you watched it you'll know what I'm talking about) was just fucking awful and totally broke the feel of the moment. The first scene I could kinda see why it would be ok, but didn't agree with it. The second time it happened I was just angry, it was terrible and totally ruined the scene for me. I would actually pay money for a copy of it that someone edited in a different song more fitting to the scenes. Seriously, what the fuck..

Anyways, still a great movie, everyone should see it.

Did you read the lyrics for both songs and their situations? The songs were perfect for the scenes.

The general consensus seems to be that these "renewal" movies are actually a sequel after he rejects instrumentality and the world reboots back to the start of the series... or something. Won't know until the 4th one, though. Could be Anno just trolling the fuck out of everyone.

I don't think that song was part of the actual movie. I think that was fan made. I recall actually being able to hear the dialog during that scene.

It totally fucked me up watching the first movie and being like "This is pretty much exactly the same as the original", and then watching the second movie that was almost completely different. At first, I wanted to rage how the pace completely changed and how it had nothing whatsoever to do with the first movie, but then I forced myself to sit back and watch it as though I had never seen the original, and it worked out fine (though was still incredibly awkward).

Just did. In my version, it was playing in the background, but you could hear all of the dialog. I don't know what's up with the one on Youtube, but there was no dialog in that one. The one I have is Japanese with subtitles.

If lyrics is all that matters why don't we see more children music themes at funerals. It's not what was said, but how it was said that was out of place. The music was out of place. Take anyone who doesn't listen to Jpop and have them watch the movie for the first time, I had a room full of them. Everyone was laughing the second time the music ruined the scene. It was really out of place.

Watched it. Liked it alot, technically it's just pure win. I saw that some symbols and events have changed in the storyline, Anno has shuffled his deck... Wonder what's next =D

And now it's pretty obvious. The world of Rebuild seems to be a "Reboot" of Evangelion's world right after end of Eva. Kaworu's words are pretty clear. That would explain some details we've seen in the landscape, such as the blood on the moon etc

However I didn't like

the lack of Mari's screentime. She pops out of nowhere in the fight vs Zeruel for no apparent reason. Liked the fight though, it reminded me End of Eva. And I wanted some more Eva05 action!
