2 problems: safe mode won't boot and iTunes locks up

For reference, I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.

Two problems I'm experiencing, both of which are equally annoying. First problem: when I try to boot up in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with networking, it always gets stuck on loading the CLASSPNP.SYS file, without fail, every single time. I've left it on overnight and it still sits there.

Second question, no idea if this is related to the classpnp file, but every single time my iTunes starts up, it locks up and then locks the rest of my computer up. I'm running version 9.1 for Windows 64 bit, I've re-installed it after uninstalling it, still didn't solve anything. initially it locked up when it was trying to determine gapless playback information, right about song number 10 that it was trying to scan (10 out of 400-something). So I had to cancel that process quickly before it got to scanning the 10th song, then select all my songs and alter the info to check that "Part of Gapless album: No" box so iTunes would stop doing it. Then, because I have a bunch of missing songs in there, I created a couple smart playlists in order to filter all of them using this method: http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/in.../t-231411.html

That worked great, but now every time I start iTunes it locks up completely, and it's not evening trying to determine gapless playback bullshit.. Not sure wtf is going on with it but it's a monumental pain in the ass.

I don't use Itunes so not sure about that, but if your CLASSPNP.SYS files is having problems you could run the sfc /scannow in command prompt and see if it can fix the error. If it does it will update it and then try safe mode.

Alright thanks, running the scan now.

Edit: it said it didn't find any integrity problems.

    1) Get classpnp.sys to a USB stick from your friend or someone who has the same Windows version.

    2) Burn Ubuntu on a DVD

    3) Boot from DVD. You can browse your folders without actually installing ubuntu.

    4) go to C:\windows\system32\drivers and rename your classpnp.sys to classpnpold.sys and place a copy of your friend's classpnp.sys there.

    5) reboot

    6) cheer and celebrate at the nearest bar!

This solves the problem for a while but from what i've read the source of the problem has not be pinpointed as of yet. Some think its an adobe update but can't be 100% sure.
