    Need help customizing a laptop!

Hey all, I need some help customizing a laptop, Basically I'm looking for a very good laptop for gaming [FFXIV etc].

So while looking I stumbled upon Sager http://www.sagernotebook.com

At first I wanted to get the NP9285 all maxed out & stuff, but then I saw the NP8120 had a bigger screen [18.4] & runs on x2 285GTXm on SLI, But then again the best CPU you can get for the NP8120 was:
    i7-920XM (45nm,8MB L3 Cache,2.0GHz)

while the NP9285 [17"] offered the:
    i7-980X (12MB L3 Cache,3.33GHz,6.4GT/sec QPI)

    Also the NP9285 [17"] Offered a single GTX 480M OR a Quadro FX 3800M.

Now which one of these cards are better, I know currently the GTX 480M is good but wth is a Quadro FX 3800M and why is it $500 /more/ than the GTX 480M? Does it perform better or whats the deal?

I think the obvious choice for me if I wanted the good one spec wise would be to go with the NP9285 [17"] since it has the superior CPU/Memory (12GB Triple Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 3 X 4GB)

But as for the graphic cards, Is a single GTX480M really better than x2 GTX285M in SLI with these 2 laptops?

I'll take any advice/suggestions from you guys, If you can also suggest any other brand that offers better or cheaper ones to customize I'd be grateful!

    Please excuse my English

*Also one more noob question, are these laptops video cards different than regular laptops card? I mean I heard from someone that you can actually remove these cards/repair them/or even replace them with newer models, almost like a desktops video card, Is that true?

12GB of memory is way too much for just gaming. I would say 6 at most should run anything coming out in the near future.

All I know is that the Nvidia Quadro line of products are aimed for professionnals (CAD), now what does it change, not a single idea... might be a good reason "no one" use them in gaming build.

Also if it's anything like desktop (which I bet it isn't), GTX480 (even though it's a renamed/underclock GTX465) should perform quite well, possibly better than the 2x SLI combo

I've been trying to find benchmarks or conclusive comparaison but there are apparently none yet for the 480M...

Like sruon said, the quadro is more for professionals. While it can work for gaming, I wouldnt recommend it, and it can be buggy. For a laptop, I'd stay away from SLI cards mainly due to the heat and the cramped spaces.

according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-...M.30196.0.html it's about the same as the 2x 285s, but I think they're basing it on specs rather than benchmarks
