Was reading rumors of the Galaxy S coming to AT&T as well, I'm not quite sure what I'll do near the end of the summer when I can upgrade

I was looking at the Galaxy S, as well. I would miss the tactile response qwerty though so it might be the HTC Aria (PC70110) for me. I just need a small Android device that I can ssh from. ATT's been painfully slow in launching anything that might hurt Apple's feelings.

I did mine through the premier site (Employee/Partner discount) and besides the "slowness" my order seems to of gone through just fine... Also no $18 upgrade fee!

How long is it gonna take AT&T to reopen the pre-orders? The 16G is already paid for, I just have to send back the 3GS tomorrow.

My fee was waived as well.

However, I did have to pay full tax on the phone..... so instead of $11 tax from a $200 item, I was taxed for a $599 item lol.

I sent a text to the number like suggested earlier in the thread, and it just said we can waive the 18$ upgrade fee

Maybe cause I am upgrading from an iPhone3G that I got in 2008... so I was actually due for an upgrade. My total for iphone was $319.93 (New jersey). Still debating if I should get Applecare on it or some other type of protection plan... Is there any plan that will cover an oops I dropped it, or spilled something on it, or water damage? My current phone took a hell of a beating, beer spilled into the ear piece... drops onto asphalt... I just don't want to have to pay some outrageous 600$ or whatever it is if my phone stops working.

It might be because my girlfriend waited so long before getting a update? Her line is getting upgraded from a iphone 2g so......... its been awhile.

Hte $18 upgrade fee isn't applied to the sale total, it goes on your next bill. So just because you guys didn't pay it when you ordered does not mean that it was waived (unless it stated so explicitly).

Said it for me, that the upgrade fee was waved........ and showed the $18 crossed out.

iPhone 4 Confirmed to Have 512MB of RAM (Twice the iPad and 3GS)

Since the launch of the original iPhone, Apple has made efforts to hide some of the actual tech specs of the device from consumers. Apple has never advertised or even published the processor speed or amount of RAM found in the iPhone. Arguably, Apple is trying to shield customers from these technical distractions and instead trying to focus on overall functionality.

More technically inclined customers, however, still love to know what they have to work with. The original iPhone and iPhone 3G contained 128MB of RAM, while the iPhone 3GS was boosted to 256MB of RAM. Similarly, the iPad contains 256MB of RAM. This discrepancy offers a technical explanation why Apple is not supporting iOS 4 features such as multi-tasking on the original and 3G iPhone -- there simply isn't enough RAM.

We have since heard that the upcoming iPhone 4's RAM has again been upgraded. This will bring it to a total of 512MB of RAM, twice as much as the 3GS and iPad. This number actually contradicts tear down photos of a prototype iPhone 4 that was leaked to the internet. An analysis of that prototype device showed it only carried 256MB of RAM. The 512MB figure, however, does agree with a Digitimes report from May 17th that confirmed a 960x640 screen resolution, thinner display, and indeed 512MB of RAM. We had heard that Apple confirmed this 512MB figure during one of the WWDC sessions last week, and have now verified this. The session it was revealed in is now available (Session 147, Advanced Performance Optimization on iPhone OS, pt 2) for registered Apple developers.

The added RAM should help overall performance and multi-tasking on the new iPhone 4. It could also explain why the iMovie App that Apple introduced at WWDC will only run on the iPhone 4. Apple has said iMovie will only run on the iPhone 4 and not the 3GS or even the iPad. It seems conceivable that it actually makes use of the extra RAM offered by the iPhone 4.

Co-Worker just installed 4.0 firmware from redmondpie and the new features are quite nice. The multitasking takes getting used to in regards to the controls at first. One thing that we are both not happy about is the folder limitations. You can only put a max of 12 apps in one folder on your homescreen. I haven't installed it on my phone yet because the jailbreak isn't out yet (They have it already and are waiting for the official 4.0 release) but I am tempted to install 4.0 and just wait for the jailbreak which is due out next week.

When we sent the text message to see if we were due for an upgrade this was the exact reply, I still have it. Can screenshot it if there is a way to do so.

Im going to Vegas on the 24th =/. Which means I have to call UPS and see if I can swing by and pick up my phone at like 6am... because my flight is at 9.

I dont want to spend my time in Vegas without my iphone
