Anyone on the 3G model who's not currently planning on upgrading, fancy telling me how iOS4 runs on it? I have a friend who got a beta version and it ran very very poorly.

If its the iOS4 GM version that was released to developers after the apple conference......... (was also leaked a few weeks ago, that don't require registration with apple) then it will run poorly, the one released today is exactly the same as the GM version.

Fantastic. How like of Apple to force you to their newer hardware. I'd love an iPhone 4, but considering I'm moving to Spain for 6 months in 9 months time, an 18 month contract isn't such a great idea. And neither is £500 for a new phone.

Doesn't seem to be any change to the baseband between the 2....... figured the jailbreak community would only care about that.

Person at the AT&T store told me I could expect mine around july 5th but mind shipped today so I don't see how that'd be possible lol.

So, I upgraded to IOS4, jailbroke it, and did the edit registry thingy so the multitasking works (if you want to call this...working) on my 3G (not S).

Anyone know how to enable free tethering on this thing? I can't find a guide, everything seems to be rooted in the IOS3.1.3 or whatever era.

Followed these directions basically. I did the normal update via iTunes 9.2 (the official apple release of the new OS) and then went from there.

@Vandole I guess you would say it's the "redsn0w" jailbreak.

People who ordered through apple.com will be getting their phones a day early.

Apple sent out emails, saying to be prepared to sign for their phone on the 23rd.

This might put less strain on the activation servers when the 24th rolls around...... well thats if the servers don't completely shit the bed for 24 hours starting the 23rd.

nah it took forever for mine to update as well, its there. in my email they said it could take up to 72hrs to update tracking information
