See you guys inline on the 24th
Cuz she didn't read the thread below instead of bumping this one
Yeah yeah 2 days necro lol
It's not really a necro if it's on the front page.
Also, hot damn I'm so glad I don't have to camp outside a store in order to get one, I can camp the pre-order page instead! :D
I'll be pre-ordering mine, and I'll be picking it up the day it's available. I've been holding off since I got the 3G, and I'm glad I didn't pick up the 3GS when I could have. This shit looks nice.
Ok, I'll bite...
Meh.
I think the only reason I'll end up with one is because my current contract expires a few weeks after it's released. The only thing I use my iPhone(3G) for is making calls, driving navigation, looking shit up on wikipedia during arguments, and playing the occasional game when I'm away from home or laying in bed. This new model adds almost zero increased usability for me and all I really could prefer over my phone is the reduced loading times and smoother graphics/animation.
Video chat is ghey, ibooks can rot in hell, I have a real camera for taking photos.
Also, the data plan changes that AT&T just made make me fangry (as soon as my contract expires at least). Extending to other carriers would be the best thing they could do for any of their customers. It's getting really bad.
This is definitely the better upgrade. Lol.
I'm so glad that nearly all of the rumours are true; front facing camera, 720p/5 mega pixel rear camera, double resolution screen, "FaceTime" like functionality. The iOS 4 updates are also good news, and I'll be getting the iMovie app as my first app I reckon (unless it comes bundled?).
SUPER PSYCHED.
The article linked above stated that iMovie application will cost like $5 if you want to edit your iPhone videos.
Anybody understand the upgrade policies with AT&T? I got my iphone 3g in March 2009, will I be able to upgrade to the iphone 4?
Still not bigger than 32GB?![]()
Give it a couple months.
And to Mioko:
I have a real camera too, but I dont lug it around everywhere. I do however take my iphone -everywhere-, and them bumping the camera/video to this level of awesome improves my ability to share my life with anyone, anytime, in HD. It's awesome.
Not to mention everything else. I can only imagine some of the apps that can make use of some of the new features.
The new HD screen is amazing as well.
You might need to call At&t and ask them......... from the conference, it seems you can only upgrade early if your contract is due to expire anytime in 2010. So if your contract expires (or your eligible for a upgrade) on Dec 2010, at&t would let you upgrade 6 months earlier than normal for this phone.
Yet, since you have a 3g instead of a 3gs....... maybe at&t could make a exception? Doesn't hurt to call and ask them

and I hear the facetime commercial was directed by the Sam Mendes director of American Beauty and Road to Perdition

But honestly, I can see the appeal to the average consumer. They see "MORE MEGAPIXELS" and somehow it must simply be better (just don't tell them that means they can take LESS pictures on a given #MB of storage). I understand that the ability to record and edit video vastly appeals to this whole "facebook/twitter lifestyle"
I'm just saying that the only "upgrades" that I would even utilize from a 4 vs a 3GS would be the higher resolution, the alleged longer battery life, and whatever they might fix with the map/navigation.
A majority of the shit that the keynote highlighted makes me scoff.
