Nope just raped some kid on ebay for my 3g last week. And by raped, I mean raped. I upgraded it to 4.0 and didn't JB or Unlock, gave him a switcheasy case and belt clip at least, but forgot to send him the usb cable and power thing. I at least asked him if he still wanted the cable but he said no... which is great cause my 3g's usb cable is longer than my iphone4's.

Awesome, this was the 1000th post in this thread. If they do a recall I'm not sure how it will work. It's going to cost them millions, maybe they'll give us an at&t phone for the time being or have new, fixed models ready and waiting for us.

The problem isn't serious enough for them to do a recall. They will more than likely offer a free bumper case to anyone who requests one (big deal).

This is more than likely what is going to happen.

As reports were showing offering free bumbers would cost apple $1 per phone, while a recall would cost around 1.5 billion.

Apple can even use the bumpers to their advantage to make each phone "unique" by offering a variety of colors and put their logo all over it like they love to do... maybe this was their plan all along lol

4.0.1 went live a few minutes ago.

DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU PLAN TO JAILBREAK OR UNLOCK. And they already stopped signing 4.0. So get your blobs backed-up now! Use TinyUmbrella if on iPhone 4.


Latest rumor is that Apple has designed an internal fix for the reception problem, and that everyone that already has a phone will get a free bumper (and possibly a free switch of their phone with the updated ones.) Apple and AT&T's sites have changed from a 7 to 10 day wait to a "3 week wait" which helps add to the belief they are retooling the process to add the internal rubber for the reception issue.

EDIT: Apple is still signing 4.0, Cydia's SHSH servers are being overloaded. But backup fast anyways. Expect Apple to stop signing 4.0 very soon.

2nd Edit: Comex now posting no Baseband update, Unlockers should be safe to update to 4.0.1

I can't seem to use TinyUmbrella to backup my 4, it just sits on processing SHSH request and I left it for 11 hours while I was work, never finished. I can't figure out what the hell's going on with it.

Edit: I read the readme and I have the phone plugged in. It also seems to detect the model, baseband, BbSNUM and EID fine.

I was just able to save my shsh through tinyumbrella. Looks like it saved the file to c:/users/name/.shsh so I'm gonna toss that on a flashdrive or something so I never lose it lol.

I agree that if they do anything, it will be a free bumper or a discount on one, but I'm not holding my breath for it. To be honest, it doesn't affect me much since I don't make contact in the problem area when I naturally hold the phone, but I would take a bumper anyway.
