For hose who haven't been following the jailbreak, here's the deal. Devteam was close to release a while back, but after some testing, the exploit was bad, and they had to start from scratch. It seems they are finished again and doing the testing with saurik and cydia. It also seems that it's going to be a website based jailbreak.

Need a little help here:

Got my iPhone 4 on FRI and let the battery die on me for its first recharge (which I did yesterday), and at the same time the first connecting it to iTunes. Did the registration and all that and wanted to upgrade to iOS 4.0.1. This however bricked my phone and it went into recovery mode, my PC however didn't recognize the phone after that anymore and I had to get my laptop out and connect it there, after 3 hours of fiddling around I finally managed to unbrick it.

However, my desktop still doesn't recognize the phone and gives me an error message (0xE8000065), which supposedly is a common thing on Windows 7 with the iPhone...does anyone else have the same problem and/or a solution to it?

Things I tried: re-installing iTunes (and the other Apple programs), different USB ports, update USB driver.

Go into DFU mode or try to restore from a different PC.

I did that yesterday, and it activated fine...but my desktop still won't recognize it.

It's something with the USB drivers that I can't quite figure out :s

What's the point to jailbreaking, now that we can multitask and have custom backgrounds? Seems like it'd just slow the phone down.

I would love to do it but I'd be fucked if something went wrong. I do have 3rd party insurance but I'd need to check if it covers my handset if it's been modified in such a way.

Safari loads to just a blank white screen now, time to backup and restore I guess

Just for those worried about problems.......... there seems to actually be problems. Not only does safari no longer work, but my phone will not charge anymore nor will my PC pick it up as a iphone anymore.

Also JB'd... easiest JB ever.

If any of you are having problems:

Sync with itunes first, etc, then go to jailbreakme.com on your iphone. Slide to jailbreak, after 5-15 seconds it should start downloading something, if not, reboot your phone and try again.
