i think imma start with the 200mb to try it out, since i hear you can upgrade to 2gb if you want but you can't downgrade from 2gb

i get wifi at work and at most places that i hang out, so i'm not expecting my data consumption to shoot through the roof

How convenient that this ties you up for >$2k in bills chained to a harsh ETF until till long after any anticipated announcements regarding new options for data/voice carriers come 2012.

i don't think that's new, it's been the upgrade method from ancient regular at&t phones to an iphone since the first generation iphone was introduced

December 2009, my 18$ fee is waived lol.

As far as Data, I haven't gone over 60 Mb yet, and thats with tethering. Although, I have no idea how I'm going to be able to tether with iphone4 until it's jailbroken, since I'm using Mywi.

I have a ton of games and bullshit on my phone, but I delete stuff once in a while. With 1500 songs and a few games I never have gotten over 9gb in space. This is mainly due to me jailbreaking and updating often, so full reformats take place.

But I also have a laptop for most things, so no need to put tons of movies etc on phone.

Watched a stream today on ustream today. A hour and a half or so.... eats bandwidth like mad. Keep in mind the 2GB is download AND upload combined. I use my phones internet constantly. If my laptop needs it then I use it. Glad I have a 5GB cap rather than 2GB. I hate feeling restricted as to what I can do.

Using the iphone as a 3g card. Tons of apps that turn phones into wifi hotspots.

Theres your problem. Unless you're using it to teether you'll never need more then 2 gigs

I never needed too. I use a stand alone hotspot.

The phones a minimum of $200 with a 2 year extension. So you won't be getting it for free (or $18 ). I did read that if your 2 year contract ends in 2010 you would be offered a full discount for the new iphone.

The phone will be available in white or black, retailing at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB. They go on sale June 24th, and AT&T will be giving some extra grace upgrade timing -- up to six months early. The 3GS will be dropped to $99 and the 3G will disappear completely. Pre-orders start in a week, with 5 countries at launch (US, France, Germany, UK, Japan), with 18 more following in July. Update: Good news, addicts! AT&T just pinged us to clarify that so long as your upgrade date is anytime in 2010, you're now eligible to spend an additional two years paying dues to AT&T. In other words, a fair amount of you will be able to buy one of these at contract price on day one. The full statement is after the break, along with AT&T's full pricing release.
