I stream a ton of music and podcasts. 2gb ain't cutting it for me.

what's your average monthly data usage with tethering? i'm interested in finding out since i never keep track of what i use on wifi
Got mine in March or April of 2009 I think, doing this I got the following message:
Can some other current 3G people do the same thing, post the results and say when you started your current plan?As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee
IN march I went on vacation and was tethering on a laptop. around 2gb actually seems to typically work. I was a bit surprised.
Weird. Friend who has a first-gen iPhone and has had it for years got the same message.
...
How convenient that this ties you up for >$2k in bills chained to a harsh ETF until till long after any anticipated announcements regarding new options for data/voice carriers come 2012.As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee
i don't think that's new, it's been the upgrade method from ancient regular at&t phones to an iphone since the first generation iphone was introduced
for current iphone users, how big of a difference is there between 16gb and 32gb? without considering music storage
I have a ton of games and bullshit on my phone, but I delete stuff once in a while. With 1500 songs and a few games I never have gotten over 9gb in space. This is mainly due to me jailbreaking and updating often, so full reformats take place.
But I also have a laptop for most things, so no need to put tons of movies etc on phone.
Watched a stream today on ustream today. A hour and a half or so.... eats bandwidth like mad. Keep in mind the 2GB is download AND upload combined. I use my phones internet constantly. If my laptop needs it then I use it. Glad I have a 5GB cap rather than 2GB. I hate feeling restricted as to what I can do.
I've never hit 2gb on any given month.
But then again I'm not slow and download anything other then apps onto the phone. I use my Laptop for that.
unless you're using the Iphone as your laptop replacement I can't see why people would complain about the new cap.
Message I got was the following.
A full discount on a standard handset or iPhone upgrades is not available at this time but you may qualify on 3/14/2011. We can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please visit a participating iPhone sales location for pricing on this offer.
I bought my iPhone in Nov 2009. So basically I can preorder the new iPhone and all I have to pay is $18 with an added 2 years onto my contract? Am I reading this right or do I have to pay $200 for the phone and $18 on top since I have a contract that doesn't expire soon?
The phones a minimum of $200 with a 2 year extension. So you won't be getting it for free (or $18 ). I did read that if your 2 year contract ends in 2010 you would be offered a full discount for the new iphone.
