iPhone 4

I am really compelled to get the new iphone 4, yet I am torn between it and the evo 4g which runs android. It's a shame but apple dictating over draconian developer policies is essentially digging its own grave and anyone worth his own salt will admit that the future belongs to android OS. So that's the dilemma underlying my decision.

My 3G is pretty much beyond the point of help. Browsing safari for a hour straight will sap the battery from 100 > 0.

this is typically caused by an error in your phone's software. Back it up and reset the phone to factory default. Then sync back your contacts etc.

This happened to my gf's phone and this fixed it. If you want to see what program is causing the battery drain, bring it into the apple store.


I still have my original phone from day 1 of the release of the first gen phones and charge it daily. My battery is still about as strong as it was when I first got it, so I really am not convinced by the "limited number of charges" arguments that old nicad and lithium batteries once had.

No one should be. By the time the batteries are hit with diminishing returns, it's likely you would've gotten a new phone by then. Unless you live in a hot climate and/or expose the device/battery to other heat sources.

If you're a programmer and you like getting into your phones OS and really playing around, you can probably push the EVO 4g to it's limits and it would be a great device.

For everyone else, the Iphone 4 is just simply better. Better screen quality, initial plug and play usage, better design/utility. Better initial video/photo edition software. Better processor designed specifically for it's phone. Better battery life. And about 100x as many app developers trying to find ways to make your life easier with your Iphone.

Once you own the new iPhone, you'll realize there never was a comparison.

Android is too clunky.

Whats funny is people claiming that Open is the format of the future but the trend is heading in the other direction.


Iphone is still going strong. Windows Phone 7 the successor to windows mobile isn't an open source device and HP that recently bought Palm is contemplation licensing WebOS with strict requirements as well.


All that being said nothing is really closed as Neo has said simply because most of these phones can be 'jailbroken'

Each person has their own taste. Iphone4 or android 2.2 that is looking to be better then the new apple OS. Then again; no one has had a shot to test but it has a long way to show anywhere near the benchmark tests that the N1 posted up with 2.2

My plan now that I have 2.2 on my droid; is to hold out a little longer and snag a I-touch cheap when I can and just tether. I get the best of both worlds for a decent price.

I get to stay on Verizon(best in my area) and the only thing that will force me away from my moto droid will be when they have 4g fully working and it is set in stone that it wont get it(sorta is im QQ about that)

what? care to say more ~_~? I dont know much about the iphone4 as we only have what apple has said about it. 2.2 is live and we know what it can do. Its fair to say that we wont know whats better till we get our hands on the iphone 4

The whole iOS vs Android argument is becoming like macs and pcs. PCs have better hardware often times, but Mac software, as of late, runs it more smoothly. Hardware and software built hand in hand will just about always provide a smoother, optimized experience and that's what your average Joe consumer is looking for.

But the average joe consumer now jailbreaks the phone. I know about 100 people with a Iphone(maybe more) and at least 1/3rd of them have it jailbroke. So the real question is whats better after you jailebreak a phone. Answer? what do you like more aka as you posted above lol.

Iv used 2.1 on my droid for months; and I am now using 2.2 for a little over 2 days(on a older phone moto droid) it runs great and what they added is very nice.

If you want to go off battery, the 2.2 rom seems to eat battery life about twice as fast as 2.1 ~_~ I hope that is fixed at some point. tethering works great, iv had 3 PCs running(somewhat slow lol) off my phone. So I can only think when the real one comes out it should be optimized and a)not run the battery into the ground; B) give it even better benchmark tests.

Based on What I have seen. 2.2 beats apples OS that they have out now by miles. OS4 needs to dish out what apple fans think its going to be.

Yes I only have a few days and its going to take time for me to really see if its as big of an update as it was claimed to be. But from the looks of it my frame rate has jumped up by about 5~6 FPS and my MFLOPS is about 3x what it was. from around 3~4 to 9~14

edit: If OS4 really is better then 2.2 by a large amount; In a year I will switch over. I dont have pride when it comes to tec stuff. What is better I will get. Macs dont run games as well as PCs and thus I own a PC. If that was to change and all of a sudden macs had every game under the sun on them Id cave and get a mac its that simple. No reason to hang onto something that is not worth it. This is why I own a 360 and ps3... lol both have shit I want.

The issues with 2.2 might be ironed out when the ROM actually goes Live. Google hasn't officially released it and has informed us that we're all using a pretty old build of Froyo. Even though it runs pretty good on my N1. lol

Yeah I gave my opinion that Andriod as it is now is clunky as hell. that the cut and paste feature of the OS is shit and what sucks even more is if I mispelled a word and it isn't auto corrected I have to fight with the screen to insert the marker at the right spot.
