I have serious difficulty with empathy, actually, but logically I figured something out as a little kid.

I found a toad once when I was like 3, was the first one I'd ever seen, I couldn't figure out why this little rock looking thing kept moving, so I did what I do with interesting little machines.

I took it apart, unfortunately when I broke it, I couldn't make it work again. I put it all back together in the right arrangement, closed it up, even set it so it looked like it did when I first found it, but it wouldn't move anymore.

I would have preferred the toad to have kept on working, and felt remorse that I couldn't fix it. After reading up on biology some more, I couldn't figure out exactly why living creatures have a certain "void if broken" quality, but I knew I had more in common with the toad than a watch, and shouldn't take anything apart that is living.


I lack empathy, but I recognize logically that other life forms have a general goal: to stay alive, so I don't kill shit.

If you can't empathize with an animal, at least you can recognize that if given the choice, it would obviously pick life.

Why do you feel the need to constantly pay attention to every post I make where I point out something weird to provide an example for a particular situation?


In this case, the example of lacking empathy, while still deciding that killing is bad, and wrong... badong even, was the point.

Except that General is probably the forum I browse the least out of any of the major ones besides Spam, hence I've never seen anyone else post those sentiments before, so it's not a case of bandwagoning. You have close to 10,000 posts, so me having seen the odd one and getting the distinct impression from nearly all of them that you're pretentious hardly constitutes me "constantly paying attention to every post you make".

But that is why animal cruelty threads are always so interesting. They bring out all the different types of people. They are like a religion thread. They draw everyone out of the woodwork to troll/argue/discuss.

You always have extremes on either side.

Most of my posts were in the FFXI section, then General, and of all of those you take the few you admit to having seen as an example that all of my posts are the same way.

Btw, I'm not even talking about being HFA here, lacking empathy is common but not an absolute factor, so making that connection is like tying my having freckles to autism, bright eyes.
