I have several animals and they are always climbing in my lap or running around on consoles. Sure they have unplugged some at a bad time but never have I got mad enough to actually want to toss one against a wall.

In regards to the guy, I can only hope that his charge gets raised to a felony only because I hate this kind of shit so much. He obviously needs at the least some from of anger management and a few trips to a psychiatrist. Back on my original PlayStation, my cat chewed through the controller cord as I was playing it. He must have liked the swinging motion. By the time I noticed what he was doing the controller was toast. I spent the next 3 1/2 hours soldering the individual wires inside the cable back together, and actually got the motherfucking thing to work again. Hey, back then $35 for a controller was a lot of money.

The next day I came home from work and found he had climbed into the cabinet and chewed through it again.

As for kittens, I love cats, I've had hundreds of them, and kittens die a lot. Why do you think cats spit out 4 or 5 at once? Dig a hole in the backyard, or chuck em over a fence into the woods.

At home I got a couple of Parakeets who are allowed to fly around the house. They are a bunch of destructobirds, anything they can get their beaks around is a potential target. Now we have a lot of UTP cables in the house although most all of it is in cablegutters (not sure what the proper term is).

Not long ago I noticed I lost my network connection. This happens occasionally when the router just needs a reboot or something. After a couple of resets I knew something else was up considering my laptop with wireless connection had no issues whatsoever. What seemed to be the case was that those annoying chickens found one little spot where the UTP cables weren't in a gutter and they managed to clip through one of the cables. I was annoyed but not to the point I wanted to throw them to a wall, not that I could catch em and regardless its pretty pointless considering they would just fly away ).

Pets are the least important life forms in existence. They have less bearing on an ecology than anything else I can even imagine. They are completely aesthetic and, as such, have the least value of anything alive. That humans treat these animals as anything other than food, competition for food, or competition for living space only serves to give rise to circumstance such as this in which we punish our own for actions against something we shouldn't care about.

Pets should be treated (by the law) exactly the same as any purely aesthetic property that a person might own. Only in cases where the animals are trained to perform useful functions (bomb/drug dogs, riding horses, etc.) should they be treated any differently, and even in these cases, should only be escalated from aesthetic property status to tool status (value varying by function).
