$75 just for Jaywalking here.
$75 just for Jaywalking here.
parking ticket is like 100 bucks on Coronado Island here...Fuck that noise.
They shoot up my car here.
Then they kill a cat and use it's blood to write me a fine. Usually involves donating a body part.
No reason not to try to fight it legitimately, but if you lie in court over $50 you're stupider than anyone ever imagined.
What kind of screwball places do you people live that you think you can just walk into court and come away scot free if you win the case?
Court costs even if you win the case are usually at least as much as the standard fine, or close enough that nobody in their right mind is really winning here; and if they find you guilty the judge is free to award a higher fine if he deems it prudent, and often will just to smack down the little shits who think they can walk into traffic court and get lucky on a cop missing his court date.
Depends on city
Here in boston MA, if you get a parking ticket its 90% of the time from a meter maid.
If you get a ticket from a meter maid, you just go down to city hall say you wanna appeal it and they mail you a summons to a hearing (thats at city hall, not court involved) to appeal your ticket. A few months back, I got tagged for street cleaning..... even though it was not posted anywhere. So I went into city hall, said I wanted to appeal the ticket and a reason behind it and got a letter in the mail 2 weeks later saying my appeal was approved and I was all set. No fees, no court..... nothing.
It is different if it was directly from a police officer though, tickets are usually different color and will say if they are from transportation department or from the police department. Police tickets you have to appear in court like you said, and pay court fees and such.
Also he's trying to contest the time, which is the hardest thing to prove. I've only ducked one ticket, which wasn't even for me, some dumb ass meter maid in sacramento miswrote the guy's license plate down and it turned out to be mine. Car was same color but different make and model. Thankfully I was able to handle it over the phone, cause driving 2hrs to contest a ticket that wasn't mine would have sucked.
My friend has been calling me to talk about his ticket fighting experience. He's so excited to fight a speeding ticket when he was going 72 in a 55. First he served a subpoena for police records, which they said they don't keep 'cause it was electronic ticket. Next he goes to court and basically the police officer says he did it right and my friend was found guilty. Now he wants to appeal the decision even though they lowered his fine by almost half.
If you weren't guilty, go fight. If not, just pay the god damn fine.
I live in Los Angeles.
You are one of the most annoying mother fuckers on this forum, and that's saying something. A response like this only confirms that you're an oblivious dipshit pseudo-intellectual who remarkably manages to meander through their days, thanks only to their having a moderately respectable vocabulary. It fools the average dumbfuck, but hardly anyone else.
How is my reasoning "flawed" when I stated that the $50 is more valuable to me as an individual? Are you my boss? Do you expect me to get vacation pay? If so, where the fuck is my money, bitch?
As I said in my post, if the person's time is valuable enough to outweigh fighting the ticket, they should simply pay for it. If they're like me, and therefore consider fighting it more valuable than what they'd otherwise do with their time -- meaning they're not like you and don't have your fucking "vacation time" -- they should give it a shot, as they have a fair chance of winning.
In short, you basically repeated what I said as if it were a counter-point to my own statement. Try harder next time you fucking retard.
Wow, I didn't expect so much emotion from that. And I don't think anything I said in your quote came off trying to sound too intellectual. Unless I'm missing the point of your vocabulary remark. Either way, sorry to have gotten your panties in a bunch. I did go on to say afterward that I'd concede to your statement if what you simply meant was that there are other things you'd rather be doing.
