They're both sandbox games with superpowered protagonists that came out within like a month of each other.

I had a bunch of fun with Protoype on PC (prolly cause it was...free) but for what it was, it was fun. There were extensive powers to choose from and mess around with. Some of the combat at the end got downright frustrating though. Last boss was especially annoying from what I remember. inFamous was better in just about every regard. Storytelling, characters, powers, gameplay etc. I enjoy that much more than Prototype. It's just one of those games you can turn on, fuck around for an hour or 2 with mindless fun, then turn off.

Very much looking forward to infamous 2 though.

Prototype was repetitive because all you did was fight Tanks and Helicopters. Oh and run around disguised as a soldier and the AI doesn't respond to it, when you slam into the ground next to them.

Only good from it was that it had more powers to fuck around with.

Yea Infamous was better in almost every way, but still, super enemy eagle eye vision plus slow climbing was torture.

Prototype was an ok game, but its the typical crap activision spits out. Infamous was def much better and everything worked. Only qualm I had as well was the eagle vision enemies.

Imo, the game is much more fun the second time through doing it as a 'bad guy'. Especially if you got the 100% control of the city trophy as the good guy, because then in your evil playthrough you can just ignore all of the more BS quests people ask you to do (counter-surveillance missions sucked). Intentionally leaving some quests undone not only saves you some frustration from annoying repeat quests, it also gives the added bonus of having hot areas of the city filled with bad guys you can beat up.

(not to mention the good/evil side-quests could only be done once for the one side)
This is what I'm hoping for. I want the choices in the game to actually be choices, and for them to have an actual affect on you. With the first one it was always pure one or the other, but there's gotta be some sort of gray in between.

While that may be true during a good play through where you're holding yourself back, when I played the evil play through, I was just mauling things. Especially after you get full power batteries, fully boosted chain lightning and the last ability. Every fight you get into at that point lets you absolutely annihilate everything and everyone around you.

Also, fully boosted Thunder Drop was always badass. Especially when you hit upwards of 20+ people in a single attack.

This I can agree with. Not only did they have eagle vision, they also had X-ray vision. It was almost impossible to sneak up on em half the time. And the climbing mechanics do need a boost, or at the very least more animations and fluidity.

Some more variety in bad guys (in more then just looks) would be nice too.

Withstanding comments about them changing the look of Cole entirely (I'm not in favour of it), I have to say, Sucker Punch has at least gotten a better grasp of the PS3 hardware this time around. Those screencaps look *fantastic*.

No way they are in-game shots. Because if they are, they upgraded the graphics engine a LOT. I loved inFamous 1, but it wasn't exactly the prettiest game when it came to facial textures and facial animations, its visual impressiveness came from the powers/explosions, lighting and environments.

If they are in-game, then god damn.

I like the new look, even if it doesn't look like Cole from the first game.

They're either PR screencaps off a PC render (typical in this day and age when we keep seeing native 1080p screencaps of 360 games yet to come out >.> ), or they managed to implement that method of MLAA God of War 3 uses as there's not a jaggy edge to be seen in those scans.
(inFamous was absolutely dreadful as far as jaggies went)

Like everyone said, only problems were:

Super eagle vision from mobs. Really pissed me off that they knew where you were before you could even see them on the map. Plus it really pissed me off that it was hard to melee till you got the shield because you couldn't sneak up on the guys. The second you were anywhere close to 100 feet they turned and shot you in the face.

Climbing did seem real, but really slow. Half the time i was going somewhere i have to second guess if it would be worth the climb up to use the slide or just run to the next spot i wanted to go.

Ending pissed me off to no end. No the story part of timetravel, etc. I played through 1st time as a bad guy, thought that endding was ok considering you killed everyone, etc. While playing the good side i figured the ending would be more happy or something considering you did nothing but help everyone else... no you endded up "More alone then ever." I raged.

Edit: I did forget about half the holes in the game tho. Climbing a house to remove those scanner things all of a sudden you fall through the earth to your death.. wtf.

Looks real enough to me. I thought the god of war graphics seemed shopped at first until I played the game myself.

my favorite part was grinding the El-train and going into sniper rifle mode and BOOM headshot, and you could keep doing it cuz the rail would charge you back up. hope that's in the sequel.

Makes you wonder what surprises will be up their sleeves this time around as far as mission variety is concerned.

inFamous was pretty fricken' diverse in what you were given to do in the main missions (aside from the sewer treks, but those were fun since you knew you were rewarded a new toy to play with at the start), makes me wonder if Sucker Punch can come up with new ideas that don't feel derivative to what we've already experienced in the first.

I like the new Cole. Also looks like we're getting improvements to all the things people were complaining about. Faster way to get to rooftops, and not so linear morality system. Highly looking forward to this sequel.
