Servers named after Summons again seems unlikely based on what they say there, but they suggest the names will be something that any FF fan would be familiar with.

My vote goes with monster names. They would certainly be familiar to the vast majority of FF players. And in regard to wanting to achieve as much balance among the servers as possible I think monster names would be the most effective at achieving that.

Lunar Whale ftw! But remember, FFXII used summons (like Shiva) for the names of their airships, too. Although a good idea, I don't think SE will go that route.

11~12 (or 10) sounds like a nice round number. One main villain per FF game.

Although cloud of darkness sounds a bit unlikely.

I don't get why people are freaking out about a server called Sephiroth but don't mention Kefka, annoying fanboys are annoying fanboys regardless of whatever Kefka fans say distinguishes them from Sephiroth ones.

I bet if choosing server was possible right from the start of XI half the people on the Bahamut, Shiva and Ifrit servers would have picked them for the name. But what else are you going to choose a server based on? They're all the same apart from the name.

If the servers are given the names of FF villains, then naturally the older FF villain servers will have an older population. That would be pretty nice actually.
