Yes, it's 10 servers. This is to support the 7500 people (per region) that were added to the game yesterday.

Haha, I spent a few hours trying to learn how to say that when I first played FFVIII when I was like 10 or 11. Fairy ftw!

It doesn't matter what they're named after you're going to get fanboys. I bet if choosing server was possible right from the start of XI half the people on the Bahamut, Shiva and Ifrit servers would have picked them for the name. But what else are you going to choose a server based on? They're all the same apart from the name.

At the start, yes, but economies can vary greatly as well as player strategies and whether or not people solo more or party more. Fairy was all about partying, Sylph is all about VoS FoV and MMM it seems.

Gameplay was wicked laggy and the camera is bugged to high hell, which they know, so you're not missing much. No I haven't gotten in but it was so laggy and the camera so buggy that I couldn't play for more than 30min (after trying to log in for over an hour).

I hope when I do get in I get Ultimecia :D I loved FFVIII [Edit:] or Kefka because PUP is such a pwn job <3

Well yeah, but if you're not there from the start you're going to pick a server where your friends are, or if no friends for the reasons you mentioned.

Nope those servers are real all right! No idea if the number of ppl added is correct as I haven't seen the number anywhere but I could have overlooked.

They aren't telling us how many testers, but its very easy to check yourself if you have access to the test forums because the profiles are numbered.

The EU region has 12600 testers currently.

I'm kinda hoping they'll keep some of the original server names from FFXI . That way when I do migrate over to FF 14 it'll be much easier to find my old friends that stopped playing decades ago. I'll be using the same character name so it'll be a good surprise to bump into old faces in a new world ^_^ Go Phoenix~!

They said the server will use different naming pattern so stop hoping

Locke
Celes
Terra
Tifa
Cloud (Though this would prob be as bad as a Sephiroth server lol)
Squall
Cecil
Rosa
Rinoa
Aerith
Yuna

...and many other names. I'd go for the Locke server if they did this.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up - If you're looking for a place to gather with others from your FFXIV server ,then join us on the Gamesurge IRC network (irc.gamesurge.com)! Channel names are #ffxiv-server to make things easy to remember. I'm also looking for channel mods to help me out (I can't manage em all myself!). If you already know which server you're going to and know a little bit about IRC, drop in and let me know.
