Best George Foreman Grill

What is it?


To give detail, we just moved into an apartment again, and our place doesn't allow you to have propane/charcoal/whatever grills (not even allowed to store them in our patio). Which is understandable, but they do allow electric grills.

I used to have one of those mini George Foreman girlls for like hamburgers and I loved it, so I'd really like getting one of the huge ones.

One thing I didn't like, however, was the cleaning. Even with the grease tray, since you can't detach the plate, grease and soap got everywhere even inside it when I tried to clean it. The Teflon or w/e is on it came off pretty easily too, even with the tools that came with the grill.

I know some of the grills do have detachable plates so I'd like to get one of those if possible. Or at least one that is more set up to be cleaned than those mini ones.

Also in case it's important, I'm mostly just looking to grill burgers and steaks on it (nothing stir-fry really). If that changes the decision. And other brands are OK too if they're good. I really have next to no knowledge of these things. Oh, and something that can be stored outside with a cover (doesn't have to come with a cover though).

We have something similar to this one at home. It works great you can use it for breakfast, pancakes, pretty much whatever you want. It won't squish your food but you can get grill tops for them so you can get the lines and such. And they have such a huge cooking surface.

I've had the 2 largest George Foreman grills they make: a HUGE free-standing circular indoor/outdoor one that only has a bottom plate, and the 133 square inch family size one. I actually got rid of the big outdoor one because it didn't cook everything as well as I hoped, with only a bottom plate it's just pesky especially since the drip tray is under the hot plate so you have to wait to clean it.

IMO you should just go with the big indoor foreman, the one that closes clamshell style like the mini one, even though it doesnt have detachable plates. I use mine 1-2x per day and I have yet to have an issue with it, I can give you cleaning tips but unless you're doing some messy shit there's no reason grease should get into places you can't clean.

From what i've heard this one is excellent for doing lots of stuff. I have a small one that is used primarily for paninis and love it. I've never used any of the bigger ones, but I hear they're all mostly pretty great.

Yea my place doesn't allow grill/bbq either. But then again across the street is nothing but un-developed brush and California is nothing more then E Z Lite Charcoal during the summer, so understandable for us.

These are pretty good to if it's just for yourself, the only complaint I have about it is the bun warmer isn't that effective.

Also the only complaint I've heard about these are they make it hard to cook a big steak on, no comment on that since when my family cooks steaks we either use our propane grill or the oven.

Get the biggest one you can fit on your countertop that has removable plates.. removable plates are key!

This was my main issue with it. I always felt like I was ruining a good steak by cooking on it, and the Teflon would always start to wear off after a year or so of use

No. Do not get this one.

This was one of the two that I had for the longest time and it is the most annoying thing in the world to clean. The only reason I started using it again was because the teflon on the first one started to peal. Nowadays I rarely use it and only when I absolutely have to. That being said I still refuse to cook anything on it that will create some kind of fluid that will get into it's deep crevices and require me to actually clean it.

This can be so and so. I do prefer to dry out some of my burgers to get some of the grease out of it. However chicken breasts seem to be hit or miss. I have had them pretty dry if I didn't get them off ASAP, however I've had them pretty moist to.

I think this actually influenced my decision to go with propane over charcoal... that and I hate cleaning that crap up.
