My Stun Gun is killing people. Why?
Can you get the MGS achievement while using the stun gun? It breifly says Alerted when you shock them
Turns out I actually stumbled across this weird bug where if you hide in the corner of the ammo room, he keeps trying to throw grenades at you (even though there's a wall blocking him) so he receives the damage but you don't. I just basically hid there during a few grenades and then I peeped out and hit him once with a revolver.
if you shoot from behind, they wont be alerted i think
the achievement I think he means is "Foxiest of the Hounds" going the whole game without triggering an alarm
But does "triggering an alarm" mean going into the alarmed state (ie. searching for you, but not confirmed), or just the hostile state?
Hostile.
You can get ghost by getting "Alarmed" or "Suspicious", its "Hostile" That ruins it. I can assume the achievement works the same way.
Edit: Or it could just literally mean no triggering Alarms. Theres dozens of actual alarm systems in that game that can be triggered by enemies.
no clue
Foxiest of the Hounds is easier than it looks. "Alarmed" status isnt what it refers too, its having an enemy turn on an alarm panel (which you can disable via hacking) or have an alarm trigger after failing a security terminal or alarm panel hack. The missions where the alarm is already blaring do not count towards it, however.
This. Also cameras will set off an alarm if they see you for too long, not sure about turrets. You can have the meter say HOSTILE and still get the achievement, like if there's two guys and you stun gun one and then takedown the other before he can call out to other people, it will go hostile, but they wont have a chance to hit an alarm. In D-row I think it counts as an alarm if they alert all the other guys. Also near the end of TYM, the room with 2 robots, you can slowly kill them right in front of the camera and it won't matter, the alarm is already going off at that point. I actually thought I lost it there but kept going anyway and still got it.
Ok just finished the game...and have to say
Spoiler: show
pacifist i am finding the most issues with, goddamn the tranq rifle killing if you headshot with it. didn't realise until about 5 hours into my mop-up playthrough.
I don't remember tranq headshots killing anyone when I was playing, are you sure they are killing people and not some other thing?
I have read that it's a certain quest where if you use the tranq rifle it counts as kills.
i'm not far into the game at all and quickly gave up caring about pacifist, foxiest, etc on my first playthrough, but i read and it does seem like if you use the tranq gun in a bad spot, such as near electrified water or heights it would lead to the person dying
Dunno - I never got kills with the tranq gun throughout the entire game. Then again; I stopped using it after I got to China the first time and just used take downs. You can, however, get an additional 10 exp from doing Headshots with the Tranq gun - but it never killed them; at least not for me.
Then again, I stopped using tranq gun the moment I got to China and just relied on Take Downs, as they give more exp. I also found it easier since on Tranq guns, as they don't have any effect if the target is armored. That, and the target keeps moving around for a bit.
All in all, I preferred Take Down, since it gives a +20 Pacifier bonus, as well as the two-against-one bonus of +30 (I believe) if you choose to go that route. The highest you can get from tranq gun (not including the normal non-lethal bonus) is +10 from Head Shot.
Also; I can imagine the "never get spotted by enemies" bonus is very hard to get. Especially in the last area where each one has like 30 hostile civilians that attack you in a small corridor without any hiding spots. I had to charge through it under camouflage and the "run without producing sound" augmentation, and still got detected when I opened the elevator![]()
I never had issues with the tranquilizer gun killing people either. I got the Pacifist trophy, so I'm pretty sure I didn't miss something with it. Definitely was at least one quest that specified takedown only though, so maybe that?
