Try cymbals
Parents will hate you though
Seriously at that age my daughter played with a damn cardboard diaper box, a few pots and a damn spatula. My family had bought all these fancy toys but all she wanted was the cardboard box to hide in and the pots to make noise.
My favorite toy at that age was something like

Would make a noise when you smashed stuff with it, some days I'd just run around the apartment chasing the dog with my toy hammer. That + a box + Tonka trucks + giant lego's and you're set for abit. I wouldn't bother with anything like action figures till like age 3-4 imo
Oh fuck yeah, tonka truck.
Used to be if you were a boy and you didnt have a tonka truck like this your parents didnt love you

That one specifically
Tonka truck + Batman toys fighting in the back was the shit when I was a kid lol.
I had a Tonka truck! and one of the digger things for the sandpit too. But my favourite toy was a Fisher Price airport thing, which had the airport, and a plane and a helicopter.
My parents were very progressive. Or really wanted a boy. I'm not sure which.
oh shit i found the airport... so 70s lol :D

i think i will get him a big tonka trunk
how the fuck do you people remember what toys you played with when you were SIXTEEN MONTHS old?????
From about 13 months to about 2 1/2 years. Anything that they can bang on or with that makes some type of noise or sings a song. or 'puzzle' like blocks you stack inside of themselves. Anything that makes them think on how it goes together. At that age they are very insterested on how things work or where they go. Anything is that is brightly colored grabs their attention as well.
My nephew is 2, I bought him about 50 hot wheels and a carrying case for the hot wheels, he loves that thing.
One of those spiderman punchy things is pretty awesome too.
Fuck that, matchbox city or bust
Can't find any god damn pictures of the thing but it exists, you had basically a bunch of pieces you could put together into your own city. You had road bits, intersections, ramps, offroad, lights, streetsigns, etc etc. All plastic, all modular. The road pieces even had 'curbs' on them so you could even send your cars along it sort of under their own power and they would make turns and stuff.
